You literally just described Boxing Day.

Do yourself a Xmas dinner, even if you're on your own.

A brace of Pheasant for me alone, Pigeon instead of sausages for a full English on the day.

Agree but replace the full English with a bacon sandwich.

Plenty of stuffing, pickle and crusty bread.

Some decent ale.

Nibbles.

Truly impaired.

Prefer Boxing Day food, me. Hit me with the nibbles, cheese & biscuits and cold meats, and plenty of alcohol.

Christmas Day though innit, got to have Turkey & all the trimmings.

The late Donald Dewar MP used to spend Christmas in his armchair with some ready meals, a bottle of good malt and a pile of books.

Very nice. I will have crumpets with plenty of butter accompanied by a glass of skullcrusher. A creation of my own.

Skullcrusher is a bottle of mulled wine accompanied by any old fruit you’ve got lurking with half a bottle of decent scotch added. A large glass of it is sufficient to guarantee getting you through the horror of the moron brother in law coming round for lunch.

Not the best lifestyle advert, starting with the "the late...."!

Stop.
When I was 12 my mum she was fed up making Xmas dinner that no-one liked.

So, no turkey just what ever you want.

Beans on toast with an egg on top followed by ice cream.

Best Christmas dinner ever!

Same for when I was 13,14,15--------->

Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

I cottoned on that seconds could be Yorkshires with butter, golden syrup and sugar.
Yummy.

Try keeping that down when you follow it with a Quality St tin, after 8's (B4 8) and a Cadburys chocolate selection.

Any clue as to the identity of the lurking Old Fruit?

Just one small problem; sell their houses to who, Ben? Fcking Aquaman?

Find a pub that's open all day and talk bollox with all the other lonely blokes.

I have to say as a generally non-fan of Xmas for many years I have often worked Xmas Day in the past.

However, there was one year I was at a loose end and The Grapes in Bury were open all day proper with a tinsel-free zone being the draw.

It was actually an excellent day out with all the goodwill but none of the expectations and full of, as you say, a lot of people who, for their own reasons, just wanted to avoid a traditional Xmas that year.

Nothing wrong with that.

Same here, I always work at Christmas. One year, many years ago though, I got a lock in at a pub off the Holloway Rd in London and I can honestly say, it was the best Christmas day I've had as an adult.
