We've looked very good today but this has happened before 16:23 - Jan 8 with 4070 viewsSimonds92

We have taken Wycombe, Doncaster and Portsmouth apart this season. The key is consistency lets not go overboard thinking McKenna has solved all our problems. We do look nicely balanced but we always look 10 times better with Burns in the team.

We'd have probably gotten a draw today under Cook.

Or given them a first win in something like ten games and left everyone wondering why they are in the relegation places ..

From 3-0 up at half time.

Edit: the awful thing is that whilst I did genuinely lol at your post, what you said does actually have a kernel of truth in it. Sadly.

It was not even said in jest!

At half time today I thought we are so comfortable in this. I then thought, I would not feel that way under Cook because you knew the opposition would change their formation and tactics and the chances are it would have been a completely different second half. I just don't get a sense of that happening now.

Not so sure about that. We look much more composed in all areas of the park today compared to previous games, even winning ones. Always looked like we could ship a goal or three at any time under Cook.

What McKenna's been able to do in such a short space of time is remarkable based on today's performance.

Indeed. Was night and day even compared to those games.

I feel like our fans are completely delusional sometimes, there’s no such thing as a perfect performance at any level. If you watched today and thought we dished out anything other than a complete battering then I don’t understand what you’re expecting. Of course we won’t win 4-0 every week, no side ever has. It’s green shoots, yes they’re a poor team and absolutely nobody is getting carried away, but we’ve just gone away from home and had 75% of the possession and won 4-0.

So you are getting carried away? I’ve just given an objective viewpoint pointing out some of the frailties whilst acknowledging I’m delighted with the performance and the win. Not sure how that is delusional. It was an excellent performance but let’s not assume our weak points have gone just yet because they’re still there. They’ve improved for sure but there’s still evidence and hangover from Cook’s spell - not that Gillingham were anywhere near good enough to exploit them.

Sorry Keanish, there were no foundations laid before. A squad yes, but thats it. KM took over a squad lacking in confidence, lacking in tactical awareness, lacking in phase of play direction and lack of trust of what's been asked of them

Foundation being quality of squad and balance plus 20 + games together; operational team and all round better infrastructure. I didn’t mean specifically the ins and outs of Cook’s handover.

Anybody who thought we were going to wipe the floor with every team for the rest of the season was clearly deluded.

But this is also why the idea we will make it into the play-offs is highly optimistic.

I hope McKenna can get them to bounce straight back from this and get us on a proper winning run. Still a long way to go to be the team we need to be.
