Edit...Heck Factors reckoned that the antivax doctor having a pop at Javid was a set up a few weeks back, perhaps Starmer was advised to go for a stroll...who knows, I will await his insight! this is the bbc's report of the actual events: "Videos on social media showed Sir Keir being escorted into the police car on the Victoria Embankment, opposite the London Eye. Protesters can be heard repeatedly shouting "traitor", while criticising the Labour leader for backing Covid vaccinations and not "opposing the government". Some protesters were seen holding signs opposing mandatory vaccinations and restrictions to curb the spread of Covid. One person shouted: "Do you enjoy working for the new world order?" On one of the videos, someone can be heard shouting: "Jimmy Savile." " I agree that some objectivity about this story is needed.
| And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show |

Not confirmed at present... on 22:00 - Feb 7 by Nthsuffolkblue | The behaviour of that crowd is not acceptable regardless of the number of them. It is directed specifically at Starmer and is off the back of Johnson's slurs. It is the degree as much as the number. |
Why was the most often repeated, and loudest shout 'traitor' and how does that relate to Johnson, Saville and vaccines?

Seriously? You think these morons shouting abuse and jostling with police are close to terrorism? They are morons, no question. Their behaviour is close to a public order offense am sure, think I read some have been arrested. But no, what they did was not even close to terrorism as I understand it. And before anyone brings up the tragic cases of David Amess and Jo Cox, we can only police and punish people for what they do, not what they might do in the future. If we think they KS needs additional protection I have no issue with that.

Let me get this straight, you think some dickheads shouting abuse at KS like 'paedo protector' or 'traitor' will be covered by the prevention of terrorism act? We value our right to protest, rightly in this country. And the arguments that these idiots should be dealt with laws other than public order ones are right out of Priti's anti protest handbook. It is possible to think these people are idiots, to back the police in dealing with them appropriately, and keep a sense of perspective about what they did. Amazing how many on the left seem to go down the authoritarian route on this one, presumably because the victim of these idiots is a Labour politician?

take comfort. in every one of the last 7 decades there have been small groups of morons shouting offensive nonsense in the streets. 20 half wits just don't justify the level of editorialising we're seeing tonight.

It's hardly just that though is it! it's a) some of the the reactions, including "Some Tory MPs are demanding an apology from the BBC for reporting it on this way GB News are ignoring the Saville angle altogether while claiming the BBC should be cancelled for trying to ‘cancel’’ Boris by reporting it" (EG's post on prev page), n ot to mention the Sqawkbox reaction posted by GB. and b) this govt. generally, the depths it'll scrape, the smears, corruption, incessant stream of lies, coverups, Machiavellian manoeuvrings, greed, constant erosion of cherished freedoms, institutionalised racism, Brexsh1t, deliberate failure to protect us from Covid, etc etc etc. ...

And the "what would it actually take for a large chunk of UK voters *not* to support or vote for them, or say "aww, but the prime minister's only doing his best innee"? As opposed to what? Taking deliberately 'alternative' views on everything hoping to appear different and somehow deep and thoughtful? I remember a mate of mine dressing and behaving ' different ' when we were growing up. He would then meet up with all his other 'alternative' friends during the day and they would hang out on the post office steps in town. It never seemed to occur to any of them how they all looked the same when bunched together. In his defence he was a teenager at the time.

At no point have I said the harassment was ok.....the reaction to it, and the way people have attempted to frame it is over the top and misguided. Which bit do you and Badger disagree with whilst letting 'terrorist' analogies go unchallenged. Edit...I do look pretty cool though. [Post edited 8 Feb 2022 7:43]

Not confirmed at present... on 08:04 - Feb 8 by bluelagos | Some classic TWTD on view here Bankster. Something happens and people are outraged (Not unreasonably here) When showing their disgust, one or two go completely over the top in their analogies and suggestions of what needs to be done. In fact so far ott that they reach a point of vein throbbing, frothy mouthed indignation* Meanwhile others late to the story question what has happened (Not unreasonably). Others who are upto speed question the ott indignation of the most outraged (Not unreasonably). Those most outraged then interpret those questioning their sanity (Terrorism ffs!) as supporting the act - and they double down. We enter a spiral of accusations and counter accusations. Then hold your disgust at someone questioning your arguments/sanity and wait for the next opportunity to throw some sh1t at someone. It can be a totally different thread, but hey - I remember what that person said a few months ago... And breathe. *I might have gone a bit ott there |
I disagree. It’s a tinderbox out there at the moment. Mobs seem much more organised and far easier to fire up. A smear by Johnson seems to be all that is needed to surround the leader if the opposition. They don’t care about Savile, but they know it will be lapped up by the far right. They don’t care about Assange, but they know it will be lapped up by the far left. These are dangerous anti vaxxers who seem to have taken inspiration from the USA and imo it’s going to end up with somebody going too far.
