To be fair she did say "first offensive."

Anyway, the fact remains that however good they've been at persuading 'us' they've been rubbish in regard to Ukraine. You'd have thought they would've been sharing disinformation all over the place about the country... rather than completely out of the blue and illogically claiming Ukraine's being run by Nazis before marching in.

Rather than the West thinking, "Well, they are Nazis" we're all thinking, "Hang on, what?!?" and then uniting in crippling sanctions and sending weapons.

Not a lot of this adds up.

Worth remembering some very important bits…

Putin has been occupying Ukraine for 8 years.

Trump and Brexit were both Russian foreign policy goals.

Russia had bounties on hits for US soldiers in Syria and Trump said not a word.

The UK is currently allowing some of the biggest oligarchs invested here get their cash out before they are sanctioned.

These are just a few points of note. This goes WELL beyond the last two weeks and Ukraine.

To me it’s not a geographical war. It’s a class war. Russia and China just so happen to be exploiting it for geographical reasons. Aaron Banks and Nigel Farage is the enemy just as much as Putin.

"You'd have thought they would've been sharing disinformation all over the place about the country" - how do you know they haven't? :-)

If they have, it didn't work very well.

You seem to be good at daft/irrelevant questions.

Yes some interesting points, but they still seem to be avoiding my main point. If Russia has been cleverly influencing us through cyber means, why are we all united in our condemnation of the main invasion?

The stuff beyond Russia is another matter.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Thank you! Asking seemingly daft, irrelevant questions is how I learn things! :-)

Because that would be a waste of time when western media could easily counter any misinformation and have no incentive to follow the Putin line. When it's cash, racism and tax avoidance, our right wing politicians and journos are largely happy to play the game.

This isn't the invasion Russia planned - they hadn't expected to be resisted like this. If it had been a thunder run to Kiev, a few skirmishes here and there, Zelenskyy scarpers,& they install Yanukovych as President and turn their backs on NATO/the west, then the misinformation about Ukraine would have been effective in restricting condemnation, and an awful lot of voices in the West would have effectively come out in support of Putin's 'claim' to Ukraine ahead of e.g. NATO / the west etc.

People are wiser due to better research, whistle blowers, investigative journos like CC.
The tactics being used are dated.
Social media cleaned up its act somewhat.
Putin got cocky and overstepped the mark.

Sometimes, things break or stop working.

They’re already doing it. Many of those Tory donors haven’t faced UK sanctions - or have received warning of them rather than the instant isolation that others have experienced.
We used to laugh at countries where this sort of thing went on.
