And Kieron Dyer has given far more to Ipswich and it’s fans than the club has given to him

Lol newbie.

How's it trolling. I've said you are rightfully entitled to have your view. I'm able to have mine. People agree and disagree on things. It's not a problem.

Dyer has made some poor choices. He is clearly not getting good advice (if any at all). I trust McKenna to have a good honest chat with him and would not be overly surprised for Dyer to be back working with the U23s before we know it. I think McKenna has every intention of trimming the squad further and that is the only way that younger players are realistically going to get their chance.

However, it is always easier to get a job from already having one and I don't think his tendency so far to throw the toys out when he doesn't get what he wants is going to help him find the role he is after either.

I am grateful for what Dyer has done and continues to do for the club. Let's be clear, I am certain that he wants the best for the club as well as to achieve his own aims. I hope he starts to get far better advice, is soon able to get the medical care he needs and goes no to achieve exactly what he does want. However, it seems highly unlikely.

it's also interesting he says now that he left the club first time to improve as a coach, however I'm sure previously when he left the first time it was because he didn't see a pathway for him.

They literally bent over backwards to give him the U23 role, moving the previous incumbent who gave the club many years uninterrupted to a non role to achieve it.

I'm afraid today's stunt and the interview have put him down in my estimations.

He left the Club the first time because he “ was fed up of coaching kids, and wanted a shot at senior football, and was hoping t9 get a role at a club where he could get more experience ”….(source a family member who spoke to me)…..

That fits with the narrative in the media too. He wanted to get a manager's job. However, he would have been better getting that from a position of coaching rather than quitting in the hope of then getting one.

I don't think he has the temperament to make a good manager. However, I do hope he might learn it under McKenna.

I think his heart on sleeve interview this week demonstrate that he’s far from being ready to being a manager. His really abilities are coaching…..I think that’s where he’ll end up. Thing is he’s really brunt his bridges with Town now. And sadly walking away for a second time makes him “not one to be trusted” for any future prospective employer.

Dyer cleared this up in the week where he said

"What gets thrown at me a lot is; 'He jumped ship when he left the U18s (in 2019) and he's jumped ship again. Is this someone who cares for the club?'

"The reason I left when I was assistant with Adem (Atay) was because I wanted to better myself. I thought I was a bang average coach. I went away to learn and study from other managers and clubs.

"I improved a hell of a lot as a coach during that time. I'll blow my own trumpet here - I think I came back to the club a half decent coach."

Indeed and that is how I read it too. The club bent over backwards to give him a route back into the set-up here as the under 23 manager.

Would be interesting to know what Gerard Nash feels about the whole situation, a staff member who gave many many years service to the club and was basically pushed aside to give Dyer a job who has left soon after.

I understand the fan / supporter in Dyer and the supportive coach acting the way he did this week and I don't have a problem with that as such from someone who is a coach, but that kind of approach just suggests to me he is not cut out to be a manager.

This club is in a better position than it has been for many years right now and I'm sorry, but when things are looking so positive at the club and on the field, we simply don't need people pulling in a different direction in the background. If we were struggling and things were not working out then Dyer might have a point, but we're not so he doesn't.

Great player and I've had the pleasure of meeting the guy a few times and he's clearly passionate about the club. But I feel if he is going to have a career as a manager he needs to do it elsewhere because it feels like the emotional connection he has to the club is not helping him here.

If those at the club are to be believed (certainly staff in the youth ranks), then we genuinely do have another star on our hands on Humphrey’s. Like Dyers interview the other day, I know several people who think he should be involved already.

Hopefully he has a good pre-season with the first team and gets a look in next season under McKenna.

Sounds like he could be off in the summer....

if he stays however, would he work alongside Morsy? i know nothing about the kid so unsure of his game

That would be frustrating.

Can’t say I know too much of his game, just they think he’s good enough to be playing first team football. Just as good at left back/left wing back apparently as well. Cook had a look at him in training a lot in that position.

Actually. The subject was about him wondering why he doesn't get interviews....

Secondly I said it's wrong he chose today of all days to do it. You feel its OK that's fine. I don't.

I don't think he thought, "I know, I'll make a point ON PAUL MARINER DAY." It's nothing to do with it. It almost certainly didn't occur to him when he pulled the shirt on in the morning.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

The Paul Mariner Day part, probably not. But putting on a Humphrys shirt after specifically stating that his (lack of) development was one of the key reasons he left? Seems to be making a point to me.
