It’s really rather a nasty variant.
Mrs SSB can hardly put one foot in front of the other by late afternoon ten days after testing positive although she has gone back to work this week. She’s probably the most stoic person I’ve ever known, so she must be feeling grim.
Several of my customers have also been very poorly with it the last month or two and this morning, I’ve just turned up to find my client still struggling after two weeks and looking completely washed out.
All have been fully vaccinated.
It’s a great deal more than “just having a cold “ for a lot of folks, isn’t it.*

*No one has been hospitalised I know of though.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

The guy that has our elderly football team's kit has covid and I'm off round there to pick it up for tomorrow's game. It'll be an interesting experiment I guess, on whether you get covid from surfaces or just through the air. If the whole team comes down with it, we have our answer.

Aww thanks! Its actually better thanks - still hurts, but less. There's only 12 players in the squad tomorrow so I can't back out - will have to be a brave little soldier!

At least you'll be there to do the headcount. Always easier when you can do it on 2 hands innit.

I care less about your game Ullaa

I have a bit of a problem with my right hand pinkie. When I clench my fist it won't automatically release itself back, I have to pull it back into position.

It's very annoying.

I don’t blame you.

I think it might be arthritis perhaps, I also have constant pain in my big toe which I suppose is rheumatism.

I might have to make my 10 yearly visit to the doctor.

Depends how exposed to its effects you were, I suppose.

Moose had a mobile morgue at the end of his street in NYC. If you're living somewhere more rural, then perhaps it seemed less serious.

But that's life... and death.

I think you're bang on, but its really weird how it still manages to feel like remote history, to me at least. Maybe its like someone said further up the thread about masks - wearing one about town, you almost feel like the prang odd one out. Daft I know.

I made a rare visit to London last week and was amazed that very few were wearing them on the tube - I thought it was just us simple country folk who were a bit lax.

Must admit I'm getting a bit lax now as well - this week I have been maskless on my two visits to the corner shop - but I will mask up when next in Aldi, although possibly not in Waitrose.

Yes, I did advise my doctor that I had gout but he sent me for blood tests and it wasn't. I've been in daily pain since, looking back it was just at the start of the first lockdown so I guess I should sort it out.

Hope she feel better soon.

It is like a cold for many people. It’s also very much like a very bad Flu for others. For some, it’s very severe and requires hospital treatment. Some people will tragically die. It impacts folk in different ways. Like many other viruses.

All the best to Mrs SSB.

I had it back in February, was rough for a few days then improved though Ms CB had it worse. However, it's only been the last couple of weeks I've sopped feeling overly tired all the time. I think for a long time I was averaging at least another hour or two's sleep a night and with what I do it did mean that most days I was literally working, eating and sleeping, it was horrible.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Sounds like it to me. I've had it for a while, but it seems to have eased up a bit in the last few years. I haven't had any treatment or changed my night-time habits at all, so it must just be the power of positive thinking.

I have been chosen this morning. Scratchy throat, a bit of a headache and a very annoyed Mrs who is more concerned about missing her niece's birthday party.

But is it definitely Covid?
Lot of other stuff going around.
I’ve still avoided Covid but come down with a stinking cold. First time I’ve been ill since 2019. Been ill since Sunday, tested everything day and all negative.
Sore throat, then blocked sinuses and runny nose and now a really dry and scratchy throat that is really rather unpleasant.

Yes, tested positive this morning and I'd been in close contact over the weekend.

Agree though that there's a lot going around as everyone's exposure has been right down. I'm in my 20's and living in London, so actually quite surprised I've managed to avoid it this long. I had a cold like you describe a few months back, and tested negative too.

The finger thing is more an irritant than anything else and yes, I bit the bullet yesterday and went to see the quack who mentioned something about trigger finger.

As per usual once I got an appointment the toe decided to stop hurting so I felt like a big girls blouse when the doctor started playing about with it - but they are sending me for an x ray.

Caught it 3 weeks ago, absolutely kicked my ass. In bed for 7 days, couldn't get my temp below 39 the whole time. Tinnitus, crazy headaches leading onto really swollen glands and throat then a nice cough to round it all off. Sense of smell ok but anything sugary tastes like salt which is a bit weird.
