Gary Probert Interview 08:37 - Apr 27 with 2358 views | markchips | Once of the most impressive I have read for a very long while. Hope he walks the walk as we really could do with a couple of standout breakthrough youngsters next season. Humphries and Chirewa perhaps ?

Gary Probert Interview on 12:53 - Apr 27 with 1740 views | ArnieM | I read his interview and thought ( about his pathway to where he is now), that I’m so many ways that’s what Dyer should have been doing eg his apprenticeship in the non playing side of the game. Whatever profession you’re in , you have to do “ the knowledge” snd gain that experience to develop your skills and knowledge framework . This has ( IMHO), been Dyer’s undoing and he’s thrown it away yet again by walking out on the Club again . But getting back to this guy …. He’s yet another significant cog in the big behind the scenes wheel isn’t he. This Club hopefully will really start to motor next season as we finally jettison all that was Evans’ tenure . Another way of looking at the dyer thing is that the first time he left, it was to get out there and better himself, and the second time he left, it was because he learned things while he was bettering himself (doing his badges). Yet here we are saying how great it is that probert bettered himself. Dyer didn't make sandwiches for forest green under 16s because he was busy playing for england. Can't hold that against him.

There's no pathway here for Dyer, Mark Ashton is never going to make him first team manager because he'd be a massive threat to him - who would Ipswich fans side with if push come to shove. Kieron had to get out, whether it was then, in the summer, or later down the line it was a formality it would happen at some point. He's had a wide and varied career in the game, and in coaching now - but he's not going to get the job here and if that is what he wants to do he needs to get out and do it.

Indeed, and I'm sure the next job he gets - once he's had his transplant - will be a step up from the role he had here.

Even if he stays in underage football - the step up from a Cat 2 to a Cat 1 academy is huge

For me he should have found the role that suits and moved on to it rather than leave and then get it. In general, it is easier to get a job from a job than when out of work. I know football is not the same but I would have thought there was a big element of this.

Agree totally Nsb. It’s far easier to get a job when you are in work. I get he didn’t buy in to what the owners are trying to do and of course at age 43 he has the right to walk away. In a totally different world I did exactly that at his age. But I still think he would have been better putting in his energy and expertise into the lads he clearly cared about until the summer or his operation. His choice. I’ve a lot of time for KD. I’d have love to have seen him appointed after waster Lambert was binned, if only on a temporary basis and with an assistant of his choice. I hope he gets the opportunity somewhere one day.
