You could argue that is more power than any President can have.

That has always been the inherent weakness of a politicised judiciary in a time of polarised opinions. |

A couple of things stand out:
1). The oft-repeated argument that banning abortion does not prevent abortions happening but changes the consequences for those women who have one, especially poorer women who can't just discretely pay for a safe termination.
2) "This is not an argument anyone is going to win. The loudest advocates on both sides are terrible representatives for their cause. "
Failing to recognise this, very emotive but fundamental, point is deeply problematic. Abortion is not a consequence-free act whether legal or not but the US debate here, above any other subject, is horribly polarised.
Despite the best efforts of a few on the UK right, the population of this country isn't going to be taken down the same route as the US - Brexit, and the freak circumstances of the referendum after austerity, remains an exception here. |  |
