Kenilworth Road 20:38 - May 13 with 2336 viewsgtsb1966

I know they changed the camera from one side to the other to hide the fact those hideous executive boxes were actually a stand but I didn't realise they were still there until tonight's camera proved it. What an awful ground it is. Hasn't changed much since I went there in 82.

They've been trying to leave it for the best part of 50 years.

Wasn't there talk of them re-locating to Milton Keynes several years ago?

I wouldn't know. When you see that ground on the television you expect the Stein brothers to be playing. Yeah I'm old.

Absolutely brilliant ground, full of character. If Portman Road had terraced houses built into it it'd be the best ground on the planet...

It’s a sh1thole but I quite liked it the two times I’ve been. Much prefer it to a dull bowl like Reading.

Proper football ground, hope they go up. If not hopefully it’ll be Forest.

Some people like an identikit bowl. Personally, I like a ramshackle shed, I'm not there for the amenities!

It's a s*** hole. I know what you mean though because of the nostalgia but life goes on. If its done the correct way, see Spurs, then change is good.

Tottenham stadium is awful. Feels like a shopping centre crossed with a night club.

Not even that impossibly tiny catering room to the left of that stand?

We're obviously looking for different things in a stadium.

They are building a new stadium at power court which is an ex industrial site down the road. All linked to a shopping/leisure centre development which has got planning but I don’t think has started yet. Power court is full of contamination and nasties so taking ages to get going. All in all will be minimum 5 years I think before they get it.

I can still see Kirk Stephens overlapping in front of those tiny conservatories before laying it back for Ricky Hill to curl one in...

I stood there, on the halfway line, in 1953 to see Luton play Bolton in the 5th round of the FA Cup. Nat Lofthouse 1 Luton 0.

No boxes then, just terracing.

Luton were a second division team with two England goalkeepers, Baynham and Streten, and had a superb centre half in Syd Owen. Loft house only beat him in the air once but that was enough. A cross from Bobby Langton and that was that. My first real memory of football.
