Eh? Why aren't these boys paying up for the charity? If you're going to make big noises on the internet then show me the money. These cnts are riding on Lee Rigby's family. You're with them? We've seen the publicity - where's the money? What's your donation? Stick some in and post the receipt. All flags and songs and no support for the charity.

This might have saved squabbling over the finances (which doesn't feel great on a charity thread). https://register-of-charities.charitycommission.gov.uk/charity-search/-/charity- Out of interest I did open the link to the charity's website provided by the OP on p2. It took a while to find an overview of what their aims are (I clicked "What we do" and "about us"). Perhaps it's just my tech ineptness, but I wonder if it would help them if they explained more directly what they're trying to do, in the kind of way the Charity Commission does? (See the "Charity Overview" tab, top left of link above). If so I wonder if any of the techies on here might like to "donate" by offering to help improve the website? Just a thought. "given that Lee’s Mum ..sister and Stepfather were in attendance I’d say they endorsed it" decided to ignore that bit so you could go in with a cheap dig?

Lee Rigby memorial match……. on 23:07 - Jun 4 by XYZ | Ah, so I was a day out. Gotcha. Let's hope Lee Rigby's mum finds some more generous supporters than you and your mates, eh? How much have you donated to this good cause over the last couple of years when they've raised a total of about £70k? Still, you got to wave the flag and sing the songs and stick it to "some on here". "loads of dosh raised for a great cause" turns out not to be true, though, which rather changes the meaning of the get-together. |
ahhh..so you meant the game on Friday?..Gotcha Well the event was a sell out….as usual…just over 1500 …sorry if you think that’s not many people but the clue is in the term “sell our”..I’m sure many more would have attended if the capacity had been raised…. of course I haven’t got a clue of how much was raised on the day..you’d have to ask every one who attended what their expenditure was..not sure if the foundation got a percentage from the food outlets or the bars but personaly after buying a badge..raffle tickets and a ticket to the game my contribution to this good cause on the day was about £25…you’ll probably sneer at that paltry amount but there it is… yes…we had a great day waving our flags and singing songs….but mates?…apart from my partner haven’t ever met one of them in my life..but I’ll tell you what..I’d gladly go for a drink with any one of them than with “ some on here” ooops..just seem my crowd estimate was nearly 500 out..must be a disappoint for you… GSTQ [Post edited 5 Jun 2022 7:49]

SMILES, BEERS AND HAPPY MEMORIES - THE PERFECT WAY TO SUM UP THE LEE RIGBY MEMORIAL CUP 2022 BY GRAEME MOIR 1 DAY AGO SHARE Share via Facebook Twitter https://www.pitchero.com/clubs COPY It was a day of smiles, beers and happy memories at AFC Portchester for the Lee Rigby Memorial Cup. A capacity crowd of almost 2,000 spectators enjoyed seeing a whole host of former Pompey and Rangers stars playing, for a large part of the game, in bright and warm Jubilee Bank Holiday sunshine. Memories of past glories for supporters came flooding back when their heroes from previous seasons took to the pitch once again. For the ex-Portsmouth players team there was Premier League class on display in the form of striker Yakubu, midfielder Sean Davis and defender Matt Taylor. The man who last lifted a trophy for Pompey at Wembley, Brett Pitman, was also on the pitch, as was David Norris - forever remembered by Pompey fans for his dramatic late volleyed goal in the South Coast derby at Southampton. Former Pompey and Rangers midfielder Pedro Mendes drew plenty of attention from both sets of supporters in attendance at The OnSite Group Stadium. England, Pompey and Rangers striker Mark Hateley was directing things from the dugout for the team representing the Scottish giants. They had the likes of Alex Rae, Mark Walters, Marvin Andrews and Michael Mols in their side. Former SAS soldier and successful author Phil Campion was also in the Rangers squad and his rousing words best summed up the day. He said: “This has been a great day and it is fitting the event has taken place on the Jubilee Bank Holiday. “It is so important we remember Lee Rigby and what all of our armed forces personnel do when serving our country. It’s what our country is all about, it’s what makes us and we’d be nothing without it - so we should remember and celebrate it.” Mark Hateley is a passionate supporter of the Lee Rigby Memorial Cup and the Lee Rigby Foundation - the charity which will receive the proceeds of this event. He wrote about both in his autobiography released late last year. He said: “It’s a fantastic feeling to see so many people turning out. It’s an important charity and it’s important to be aware of the situations we have with our military - both ex-military and those still serving. “A lot of what these people do gets forgotten about so it’s important to keep reminding people what they do for us.” Former Pompey player David Norris praised the organisation of the event and the turnout from the fans. He said: “I didn’t expect the turnout we got here today. The atmosphere was brilliant. It’s for a great cause and what a great day it’s been. “There’s a great set up here and it has been organised well. It looks like everyone’s had a good time.” Those in attendance had plenty to enjoy during the 90 minutes with 14 goals being scored between the two sides. The ex-Pompey team ran out 8-6 winners. summed my day out perfectly..👠[Post edited 5 Jun 2022 8:02]

I’m sure WD also asked them if he could use the match and Lee’d memory to have a pop on a Football forum at any poster who has valid and evidence based critical thoughts on the monarchy and nationalism then? As that was the point I believe most on here (including myself) are raising.

He’s only 39 so I’d imagine he’s in much better shape than than 99% of us. Decent striker in his prime.
