I have never once claimed to be overly tolerant or polite. But again, neither of those things are bigoted. The general vibe of society over the last 40 years has arguably driven us to extinction, made life worse for most of us and continues to ignorantly change nothing, I find that quite hard to tolerate (alas I have to).
The monarchy, for all your crocodile tears on the subject, was built on literal genocide and racism, an attitude they’ve held on to. Your OAP village friends and family may not realise or like that fact, but it is a fact.

Not all opinions are equal, but unless options are inciting hatred based on race or sexuality, or endangering the health of the nation if allowed to gain traction then I think different options in a debate is healthy.
If any options do fall into those that I listed in my first sentence then I think it’s better to debate those options politely as you have a better chance of persuading people to your point of view. |  |
