Showing my ignorance, but what’s FIV+ ? Is that something like LGBTQ+ for cats?

Basically an illness quite often transmitted by bites that suppressed the cat's immune system. Generally meaning the cats need to be kept indoors and only socialise with other FIV cats, or not at all. It is quite common in cats that get into scraps, but many catteries wont take FIV cats on, even though they segregate the animals.

I have a stepson that ‘could’ do that… which is why trying to find out about catteries, as might be fairer for her than relying on him to remember…

You can get a timed cat bowl. I had one that lasted 4 days. With a cat flap, all sorted for a weekend away.
