Every single ambulance trust in the country... on 08:24 - Jul 13 with 1831 views | bluelagos | Posted already, my Dad had a 5 hour wait for an ambulance yesterday with a suspected stroke. Ambulance called at 9am and he got to hospital mid afternoon. As of last night (8ish) he was at the hospital along with 32 others waiting for a bed in the emergency ward at Broomfield hospital. Seen a bit on TV this morning explaining A&E calls are higher cos of the heat and there is some CV knock on too. Meanwhile our 8 potential future PMs are all happily discussing the timing of and depth of proposed tax cuts without a care in the world...

Fun fact: the last time 4 hour targets in ED were hit was 2014. https://fullfact.org/health/when-was-four-hour-e-target-last-hit/ Sajid Javid recently claimed we were seeing a massive surge in ED attendances post-coved, which was a lie. We're still(even allowing for surges like this week) below pre-covid attendances. What's changed is the number of beds open. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2022/may/31/loss-of-25000-nhs-beds-caused-se The main driver of bed capacity is staffing with vacancies in 6 figures for nursing posts https://www.rcn.org.uk/news-and-events/news/uk-nursing-workforce-in-crisis-even- Brexit and dropping student nurse bursaries have been catastrophic for recruitment https://www.health.org.uk/chart/chart-large-drop-in-the-number-of-new-nurses-com Boo to this government, boo to anyone who voted for this government and boo to anyone who still supports and makes excuses for this government. You know a lot more about the ins and outs. So if demand isn't through the roof - and the issue is the number of beds (or staff to manage them) - does that mean we have ambulances tied up / waiting outside hospitals waiting to drop off patients?

Hospitals are having to build temporary 'holding' areas due to the number of ambulances unable to transfer their patients. The Govt either doesn't know what it is doing, or more sinisterly it EXACTLY knows what it is doing and we are all suffering the result.

A couple of people in my family have had to either pay for private consultations, or purchase private healthcare in order to get seen (one of whom is on a state pension so hardly affluent!). Perhaps this is the plan…a two tier US style health service. [Post edited 13 Jul 2022 10:30]

Personally, i favour the latter. They've been advised every step of the way the effect their destructive policies will have and pressed on anyway. [Post edited 13 Jul 2022 19:28]

Every single ambulance trust in the country... on 13:05 - Jul 13 with 1438 views | ElephantintheRoom | There was an emergency question tabled on the ambulance crisis after the circus of PMQs Not only did the health Secretary not bother to hang around to hear it or explain it - neither 95% of the government (and 100% of SNPs MPs

There is a convention that Scottish and Welsh MPs don't vote on matters regarding England. Health is a devolved matter, so it is appropriate for MPs from Scottish constituencies of all parties to absent themselves from a question to the Health Secretary about NHS England matters. It's also pretty standard for Cabinet Ministers not to attend each other's urgent questions. The important thing is that the question is asked and the reply put on record, so that, supposedly, the Minister can be held to account for the performance of the Department on that issue. Sending out a Junior Minister to bat on a tricky wicket is a fairly standard ploy, but a terrible "look" on such a matter of national concern. But Cabinet Ministers are all too busy either preening themselves for the Leadership Election, or sucking up to those who are so that they still have a job in September, to actually do any "getting on with the job of leading the recovery".

It is amazing how little £350 M per week buys when Tories spend it.
