KVY perhaps for Leigh is another thought. Talk to me Blue Army, talk to me

Is this is our strongest 11 currently? on 20:50 - Jul 14 with 2615 views | Oldsmoker | I'd like to see Ball fit in there somewhere. It's encouraging that we have real strength in depth. We've always had numbers but to have someone come off the bench and the opposition realise that the sub is better than who he replaced has been a long time coming.

Is this is our strongest 11 currently? on 20:52 - Jul 14 with 2591 views | Jon_456 | Thought Tuesday night was more a 4-2-3-1 than 3-5-2, although likely to be a hybrid between the two for most of the season. Certainly think there will be a great emphasis on getting bodies forward this year as we know we’re fairly solid at the back. Think our current best team is the one that started, with the exception of Fridge in for Burgess and Leigh in for MP.
Is this is our strongest 11 currently? on 20:55 - Jul 14 with 2575 views | FrimleyBlue | Who we bring in next has to be of top level quality otherwise we are back to a massive squad with to many players of equal ability.

Is this is our strongest 11 currently? on 20:57 - Jul 14 with 2574 views | Stu_boy | Id like to see ball in place of evans as ball is very good at doing the simple stuff and protecting the backline. In turn that will allow morsy to be more box to box
Is this is our strongest 11 currently? on 21:03 - Jul 14 with 2550 views | Nthsuffolkblue | We have an OK back up keeper. Burgess provides cover in defence along with other options (including ultimately Baggott). KVY provides an option on either wing back with the possibility of Edwards/Penney on the left too. Ball may well play ahead of Evans. Have we got proper cover for Morsy though? Aluko and John-Jules give cover in attack but do we have enough firepower overall? It is where we lacked last season and I think we need a top goalscorer in there still. Overall, though, yes quality over quantity is what we need.

Aluko will not be cover for the strikers, pretty much played as a 10 every game last season. Ndaba is also cover, plus I think Humphreys, Chirewa and Hughes will all get game time this season.

In attack meant the front 3. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Ndaba, Hughes, Humphreys and Chirewa will be in and around the first team squad. Humphreys listed on first team squad already. https://www.itfc.co.uk/teams/first-team/ We have Evans, Fridge, Edwards and Jackson back from injury. Ball, Leigh, TJJ and Ldapo through the door. Wolf, Burns and Walton signed onto longer contracts. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I agree but if we are playing a back 3 (not guaranteed this season) do you also need a Ball type player? Against League One opposition.. Evans can score but his range of passing is better But to be honest we need ball challenging Evans and Morsy and being back up to them… I am much less worried about Morsy suspension or injury with ball in the building

Given the interview on leaving QPR, Ball really isn’t going to be happy… Maybe he will play him alongside Morsy in a deeper 2 and we move to 442 or 4231

Is this is our strongest 11 currently? on 21:57 - Jul 14 with 2275 views | LegendofthePhoenix | I prefer Jackson on the left, and Chaplin on the right. But we need someone who can deliver set piece balls as well as a striker who is powerful in the air. Evans set pieces didn't deliver last year. Either he needs to be practicing them day and night, or we need someone new who can.

Evans delivered a brilliant corner (or was it two?) against West Ham Don’t agree on Jackson he’s better in the right channel; and has an excellent cross / pass into the box in his locker!

Is this is our strongest 11 currently? on 22:00 - Jul 14 with 2274 views | Portman_Pie | I’m personally utterly baffled as to why anyone who has watched us for the last 4 seasons would pick Kaydon Jackson as a first team player in our strongest 11…..?! Maybe I’m not buoyed by the 3 reasonable games he played this season to get to the stage of self defecating over 3 out of about 70 games…? This front line strikes me as a badly assembled Paul Hirt’s line up at present, with no goals in it.

Aluko didn't seem especially unhappy last season. Ball will probably play. It is up to McKenna to get the best out of the squad and keep them happy.

Jackson looked our liveliest player on Tuesday in his 30 mins cameo And as I keep saying he can run the channels and provide good service to the main striker I genuinely think he’ll have a good season

So you think he’s got the 25 goals in him after loosing Celina, Norwood and Bonne..? Personally if Jackson scores 15 of those 25+ goals this season - I’ll award you £100 bonus.

And just remind you - lively performances don’t really count for much. Ulrich Le Pen looked good for about 15 mins - as did Finidi George.

That really wasn't what he said. It is clear we need a goal-scoring striker and we also need to add more goals from across the team. Jackson will not be the only player to play in place of the 3 you list. Lapado and at least one other need adding in to your figures.

Is this is our strongest 11 currently? on 22:29 - Jul 14 with 2096 views | itfcsuth | Walton Donacien - Woolfenden - Edmundson Burns - Ball - Morsy - Leigh Aluko - Chaplin Ladapo Subs: Hladky, KVY, Burgess, Evans, TJJ, Edwards, Jackson Remaining: Hayes, Ndaba, Penney, Harper, El Mizouni, Humphreys. Good squad, not over bloated as has been in previous seasons. Think it’s important to have a core group. Exc. Pigott for obvious reasons. Certainly need a left sided no.10 still. But that would be it for me.

Ok - so yes - that probably is the strongest 11 we have being super critical to the initial post - and jus agreeing to the boring post. Yep - that’s about the strongest 11. Conversation done, league position of 11th done. Let’s close the thread.
