If they’ve managed to run a Scottish chippy whilst locally known as 5G antivaxx conspiracy theorists who believe the Queen was a lizard then there’s probably a good chance the business will weather this Twitter storm just fine. If having to spend 5 minutes nodding and agreeing about the illuminati is the price that town has to pay for a chip supper then they’ll do it. I’ve put up with more bonkers things out of politeness and morbid curiosity.
But on a more somber note. Behind every person who believes stuff like this there’s a path that led them there (often trauma or abuse), as well as family members or friends potentially struggling to bring them back into an objective grounding of truth.
Seen a lot of that first hand with Trump and Qanon in the US. It’s not fun for anyone involved and folk with fringe beliefs this far gone have more in common with cult abuse victims than genuinely malicious or hateful people. But folk will do hateful and malicious stuff when their whole boundaries have shifted from gaslighting, collective psychosis and complete removal of outside influence.
It’s similar to flat earthers - they will see what they wanna see and write off the disagreeable without even looking. Do you think these people watch the news at face value when all reality is seen as code from a secret group tricking the masses whilst also leaving hints everywhere only they’re smart enough to see? TWTD’s logo has 3 triangles in it - most people won’t bat an eyelid at that but if you look for triangles everywhere you’ll find ‘em. They’re everywhere, but those who want it to mean something will find correlation and causation.
But then there’s also the challenge with such conspiracy theorists where if you listen long enough, words they use to describe the perceived evil such as “NWO” or “Illuminati” will start to morph into Jewish names, people, organisations, etc.

That is an extremely lucid post Callis and embodies a spirit of forgiveness that is, perhaps, a more fitting tribute to Elizabeth II than I suspect a number of locals will give the chipper after this tweet (not far from Muir of Ord, over on the Black Isle, there are a fair few serving soldiers and some of them proudly wear a hat badge when they are out and about.)
On the subject of triangles in the TWTD logo I am fairly sure that, back in the Burley years when the link play down the wings was being discussed, Phil once posted Haircut 100's 'Love's Got Me In Triangles' - TWTD is just a conspiracy to shift decent committed punks into the filthy waters of easy listening...

Well the shop has been egged and had it's windows smashed by a local angry mob overnight and the owner has been arrested by the police, so you may want to adjust your 'they'll be just fine' prediction there.

Well she’s not been arrested, ironic to post false news in this thread of all places!

Apologies, you are correct She's been escorted away by the police.
Feel free to comment on the other aspects raised too, by all means
Whilst I don't exactly think public parties to celebrate a death are in good taste in any cases, it's also not illegal or the crime of the century. Of course a mob is going to appear in viral cases like this. It's what those sharing it want to cultivate.
Long term I still expect they'll be fine, a lot humans have short term moral principles and give up the moment there's the smallest inconvenience to comfort. In this case it'll be a chippy dinner.
I feel dwelling on my initial light hearted comment about backlash (largely in humour of the fact people still went there with the DEAR GLOBALISTS sign outside) and ignoring the rest of my post around dehumanising these people (which was the majority of it) is a bit of an unfair expectation.
When XR lob a load of paint on the head offices of corporations, many of these businesses well aware of what harms they cause and trying to cover it up, there is outcry from the same news sources who are encouraging such mob justice in this case. When some right winger gets cancelled for being racist, it's censorship in those same circles. There are cognitive dissonance factors in play here.
I know it sounds hard to grasp, but a lot of folks dragged deep down these rabbit holes aren't doing it for money or to exploit anyone - they genuinely believe they are doing the right thing.
Remove all the conspiracy theory and there's plenty of real things to be critical of with the monarchy and the Queen. After watching the Jubilee earlier this year and being pro-abolishment on several justifiable grounds (historic and recent) it's very hard for people like me to pretend to grief for the sake of national identity/normality.
Not that I'm gonna go out and do a jig either, but I can see the equivalent of November's annual Poppy Fascism being how large swarms of the public/press handle anyone who makes the free choice to not abide by token gestures and cues.

indeed, it's a sensible, empathetic and balanced post. i would give it a thumbs up if i could.
And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

Scotland doesn't get mushy peas right imo.
Is it possible to get mushy peas right ? Garden peas are acceptable, peas straight from the pod better. If you are going to go looking for mushy peas you might as well put up with processed peas...oh, wait a minute, that's why people mush up the peas, isn't it ? They have been given the second rate stuff...

Of course it isn’t. Vile things.
Boos in Edinburgh yesterday in response to 3 cheers for the king. Seems like they’re as pissed off as the Welsh.
