Feels like a huge game today 09:53 - Sep 17 with 1555 viewsThe_Romford_Blue

Biggest game since we went down imo.

3-0 win. Or 1-1. I do think we have the potential to do them though. McKennas pass and move style looks bulletproof.*

*I would take a draw.

Win, lose or draw this has the makings of a cracking weekend though up in T’North. Uppa Towen.

Like a few others on here, I'm feeling oddly nervous about today.

In the grand scheme of things its just one early season game, and it doesn't really matter if we lose, as we will most certainly lose a few over the season. I think the difference is that we're all just wondering if we might actually be the real deal this time round, so this feels like a real test of that.

I have gone for a 2-1 defeat on the prediction league so we should be ok.

I would take a draw but think we'll win. I'm confident and that's unusal for me in these types of games.

I think we'll surprise a lot of teams at how good we are this season. They way i see it is we are top without really getting of first gear...because we haven't needed to due to opposition, but we are capable. We've been good in patches this season and are getting stronger but i think there is still much more to come.

I think the first half on Tuesday was proof of what this team is capable of, and it wouldn't have flattered us if we had gone in at half time 4-0 up.

The two games we drew, whilst we weren't great, Bolton did absolutely nothing all game but win a penalty, and v Barnsley had it not been for careless defending and a ridiculous disallowed goal would have won fairly comfortably.

Really hope we turn up today as it would be a real statement win and i think we'll get it. 2-1 win today.

You can guarantee that if we lose then some on here will be delighted.

I expect to read “ 1st real test and we lose”… “ not as good as we think we are” ….

The trouble with a good start is that when we do get beaten it will hit you hard.

I’d happily take a draw away to one of our biggest rivals. Not because I think they are better than us, but we have to respect them as a team give or take the same as us.

I feel a little nervous too, but it's different from the last few years. It feels like a defeat would be a setback after a great start, but whereas the wheels could well have come off in the aftermath of a defeat before, now you'd expect a quick regroup and a resumption of the march to promotion by a really great group of staff and players.

So it would still be a setback, but of a different scale.

But it won't be, because we're going to win 2-0 today.

This is the test of the where the McKenna project is, and how automatic we are on 11:22 - Sep 17 with 1233 viewsunstableblue

Losing today doesn’t end the season, but how many times will we falter against the bigger teams, on the bigger occasion and in front of the big crowds.

Is this our time to move up a gear

One things for sure, and as I posted earlier, this is a very different and stronger team than we took up last season… even with their strengthening! No Morsy and no Evans last term!

I’d take a draw, a win would launch this season into the stratosphere, my head says loss. Their attack too strong, midfield too good, squad too deep. But I think the crowd are not fully with Moore, an early goal for us could make it nervy amongst the Owls!

I’d take a draw too. Be interesting to see how we cope with a team coming at us. Need Burns to exploit that big pitch. He hasn’t quite lit it up like he did last season. Today would be a good day to explode into life.

Love Burns

But agree he isn’t the same player as last season at present

He’s still effective at times, but he’s not burning down the wing, attacking the box, beating the man with the same zeal

The good news is we have Davis, Harness in the team, combined with Chaplin form and a better striker in Ladapo - so we’re not completely reliant on Burns

We can afford to lose it, and won't be a surprise/disaster if we do, but we'll win - I feel it in my bones.

1-2 Town. Chaplin and Ladapo.

Believe.

Because we've picked up the points we should've against the 'lesser' (for want of a better phase) teams, there isn't as much pressure on this game as in the past when we've had to get 3 points away at places like Sunderland to make up for dropped points against teams like Accrington and Cheltenham.

I'm also more confident that when we lose (hopefully it won't be today, but it's got to happen at some point) it won't see a monumental collapse in confidence like in previous seasons.

2-0? What type of mentality is that? I’m going for 4-0. I want to see them humiliated, degraded and questioning their very existence as a football club.

Yeah, it’s another test for sure. So was Accrington in a different way. There will be a few over the season. The 11-game run at the beginning of our first season weighs on my mind, but realistically we massively rode our luck that time and we actually look solid now.
