Maybe it's just me, but as a guy approaching his 50th Birthday, it just strikes me as somewhat weird that chaps of a similar age want to get photos with footballers of which some are less than half their age and then worse than that plaster them all over social media pretty much saying look at me. Anything other than sportsman this would seem somewhat cringeworthy, perhaps it's just my age but I find it all very strange. Just felt I had to get that off my chest. |  |

I'll be honest I do agree with you, seeing blokes queue for a selfie with Woolfenden etc is a little odd, not sure my pride would let me even if I wanted to for whatever reason. Perhaps says more about me than anything else though. I do also think it depends on the level of 'celebrity'. With div 3 Town players it's definitely worse, if I saw a 50 year old bloke having a selfie with Kane I probably wouldn't think it was as cringe.

I hit the big 50 yesterday and broadly agree with you. That said, I have photos with over half the 2000 playoff winning squad from the cornhill, golden lion celebrations. Marcus Stewart (proudly wearing his winners medal!), Naylor, DJ, Croft, Magilton, J Wright… I was 28 and quite drunk but absolutely delighted I asked them for a photo [Post edited 30 Sep 2022 13:24]
