Snr and I have been trying to follow the game, the commentary are graciously explaining everything and why it's important but even so. Not sure ITFC fans can snark too much about overcrowded backrooms and sidelines all things considered either. I'm now a Giants fan because I hate green and yella obviously and they lost.

Watching the NFL game here lads on 17:48 - Oct 9 with 1835 views | Churchman | There are I think 53 players in an NFL team. You have one for offence which can include gorillas to run the ball or fleet footed ones to catch it. A team for defence and one for special teams (receiving the ball, for example). You have a kicker and a quarterback. With all these players you have back ups for injury. Each of the teams have coaches plus of course Head Coach and his direct assistants. You also have medical staff, analysts. There are also officials. NFL is a bit like chess with people. Very large people mostly. It’s not everybody’s cup of tea, but it is mine. To go to a game in the U.K. is fun. I hope to see one in the US one day, hopefully somewhere warm! [Post edited 9 Oct 2022 17:49]

I think hating on green and yellow is a good place to start. Appropriately enough, the Packers went all spursy today and fkd it up. Which was nice.

I'm guessing the Giants are like Fulham or someone then? Imagine trying to export the Prem to your lot out there. West Ham vs Brighton in front of 80k in Houston or something. Mental.

To be fair, it’s a nice stadium. A giant 80k stadium in a modest residential area of working class Green Bay. It’s quite refreshing to see that instead of out of town soulless corporate bowls

The Giants would be more of an Arsenal or Chelsea in that they’ve actually won things (admittedly there is only one thing to win)

It was quite an eye opener. I didn't know a thing about the rules or tactics, but must say i found the game absorbing and the stop/start nature of the game didn't detract from the excitement. All in all it was a great day out.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. There are plenty out there including full houses at Tottenham for this Sunday and last who I suspect would disagree - along with one or two people in the US.

They are. They play in Wisconsin and Green Bay itself has a population of about 100k. The packers ground holds just under 73k. The Packers games have been sold out since 1960 and the waiting list for a season ticket is 86k

They are called the Washington Commanders now. Despite being one of the original teams with the Redskins name, there was objections to the name. One of the interesting things about the NFL is that the teams that finish with the worst records each season get first pick of the kids playing college football in the ‘draft’. It means that teams that were rubbish have a chance of becoming good and visa versa. An equalisation process. Personally, I find that better than the top football clubs like Man City, L’pool, MU and Chelsea hoovering up the best talent and buying the best players every year, making the Premier League more often than not uncompetitive - forever. I should be going to watch Cowboys Vs Lions in a fortnight which I'm excited for. Was at the Red River Showdown yesterday (I'm at OU this year), great weekend and a fantastic spectacle with 90k in attendance but apparently it was the heaviest defeat the Sooners have faced in 120 years of playing against Texas. I really am a bad luck charm for every sports team I support. It's no coincidence that Town start being good at football for the first time in my 12 years of support once I moved across the Atlantic [Post edited 9 Oct 2022 22:02]

I presume you’ll be watching that in Dallas’ magnificent stadium. It’ll be some experience. Detroit are more competitive this year so it could well be a good game.
