Maamria also spoke about the possibility of re-signing Gassan Ahadme on loan from Ipswich. EFL rules do not permit a player appearing for three different clubs in one season, and Ahadme has already featured for both Burton and Ipswich.

“Gassan did really well for us at the start of the season. Ipswich have signed even more forwards this window and he was already struggling to make the team.

“I spoke to their manager last week. We were talking about a few players and Gassan came up in that conversation. He (the Ipswich manager) was keen for Gassan to come back to us, and I felt the same way, but we’re not in a position to pay what they asked for him.

“As far as I’m concerned today, the deal is not going to happen because we cannot meet their financial expectations.”

I presume when he says him and McKenna spoke about a few players, it was probably more them looking at ours, than us looking at someone from them?

There’s potentially a lot of value in this given Burton play Plymouth and Sheffield Wednesday in April, the stronger they are for those the better. I’m sure we’re trying to squeeze a bit more juice from Burton but it’s inevitable it’ll happen, it’s not like he can go anywhere else.

Assume so. If he was asking about strikers, we've got some in the U21s that might be available, Morris, Chirewa etc. Can't see anyone in our squad other than Ahadme being available.

He's had some bad luck to be fair hasn't he. Even before the foot injury against Plymouth, didn't he have some fitness issues? I did say on another post that sometimes you have to be ruthless though, so would have to agree.

I find it hard to criticise him because we haven't seen enough of him/he hasn't had enough chance to get into a rhythm. Ideal situation is that he hits a rich vein of form for Burton, takes some points off rivals and then at least gives us something to think about in the summer.

Wigan are in for Adeboyejo - so would suit them to get Ahadme, scored for them earlier in the season, no fee just wages. We’ll probably have a fairly tough stance but as you say they know we want him to play and the only place that could happen is Burton so in the driving seat. Wonder how much we want him with regards to player space too!!
