Nerves amongst the fanbase... 13:54 - Jan 16 with 6515 views | ITFC_Forever | Said it before and I'll say it again.... After 20+ years of almost non-stop dross and decline, the fanbase don't know how to react to being half-decent again. And so when a bit of adversity comes our way, we panic and think the sky is falling in - as that's all we've known for the last couple of decades. (edit: And I know I am as guilty of this as the next man!) That said, not throwing away leads in injury time would help alleviate this.... [Post edited 16 Jan 2023 14:29]

I'm not sure what you get out of supporting Ipswich, it seems to upset you more than anything else. Try Manchester City or jump on the Newcastle band-wagon - It will be much more pleasurable for you and the manager is probably less smarmy. (Oh hang on, its Eddie Howe - god knows what you would make of him) |
I love Howe. Wanted him to be next England manager. Hopefully will still be and has Newcastle exactly where I'd say they'd be this season. And I'm not upset. Far from it. You seem more upset.

You'd bring them up I'm sure if it suited your agenda against me. But I forgot they were positive thoughts so I guess you've magically forgotten. |
I believe that to be a huge rewriting of history. You've not been content with anything since Cook left. I'm sure I could find reams of posts from when we were second when you were making hot takes as you well know. I've not got an agenda against you, I've been very polite since taking you off ignore. However outright untruths should be challenged. SB

Well that's not correct is it SB. Remember when I posted that I was wrong with my KM comment a year ago. Oh no you forget that I suppose. I've also said alot that I love the style he has brought to the club and have many occasions said how its similar to some of the best in leagues above. So yes there has been plenty of positives SB. And of course mixed in with my usual live in game emotions but that's like all other posters.

Nerves amongst the fanbase... on 15:53 - Jan 16 by FrimleyBlue | Again who says I'm not enjoying the season. The footballs great and pleasing to watch and we've had some great wins. I don't however have to trust someone in their first year as a manager who so far got us to top down to third.. let's see where he takes us... it's at that point he's either earned that trust or he's failed to do what he was brought in to do. |
I wouldn't even bother watching the games going forwards, you could just check the classified scores afterwards

Well considering I said the football is pleasing to watch, that's an odd reply.

But if the football is pleasing on the eye, we are going along at 2 points per game, have won some cup games then why do you moan so much?

Depends what your definition of upset it. I replied to the OP in a nice calm manner. Yet you jump on and start getting worked up telling people they're upset.

"...top down to third." What are your expectations exactly? Honestly, are you expecting to romp this league without blips or some rum results? I have no issues at all with discussing and chatting about some of the issues we face. It's football and never going to be perfect. But some of the reactions, and I do include you in this, have been quite unreal of late. We dish out a hiding to Championship team, in a Cup that we have long lost our way in, using a second string squad and then draw against the top team in the league and some of the stuff is unreal.

Think for me it's the way the blip has gone. You expect losses. Even up the top end. But you'd snap out of it and go on a winning run. But despite us not losing many the draws are killing us and no you can effect what others do.. but we've let them in and let others catch up further. Tbh I still have belief we can do it with the right signings. I said this a couple weeks back. The belief is there. The reason I get passionate about different opinions is that it feels like its OK for others to tell people how they must feel and how they must trust this must trust that. When the trust is earned then of course the trust is there. That's life. But it's not right all this constant abuse of posters who don't follow the sit back and relax mentality. I just replied to the OP first and foremost in this thread. Boom 5 posters straight onto it. Blub this. Upset that. Not surprised to see you were etc. Wheres the actual art of discussion gone.

I can understand concerns but for me, there seem to be quite a few posters who just seem a little OTT in their reactions (put aside the in game stuff) and thoughts. Reading some of the stuff over the last few weeks, you'd think we were heading for relegation!

I think it's because ( and yes it's different) but we thought we on it with lambert. It dropped off. We thought demolition man could do it. It didn't. To again be smashing the league and sitting pretty at the top to struggling through 2 months of football.. it's human nature to feel fk it's happening again.

Nerves amongst the fanbase... on 14:23 - Jan 16 by Steve_M | Yes, been notable even at away matches - Wycombe stands out - but definitely the case at times on Saturday (although the support was pretty good over all). There's an understandable frustration with missing out on the win at the end but the reaction since has been hysterically over the top. That anxiety transmits it's way to the players just as loud support does. |
Indeed, it really does not help. At the risk of sounding like an irresponsible dinosaur, maybe a few fans need a few more drinks. They will either a) not care or b) not know what's going on. Or just not go to the footy if you can't handle it. And I feel like that sometimes too.

If two teams happen to do better that is not our failing, but credit to them. You cannot have an expection we will get high nineties, no team can. We are doing all we should be doing, it is not enough, so be it.

If we get the same points over the next 20 as we have the last 20. It's 88 points.

You could have stopped after (yes it's different) re Lambert vs McKenna. And not just because of the managers, but the whole different set-up, of course. Incomparable in every way except for it being at ITFC. Who knows if Cook could have been successful. He is so old school it was never going to work with the new owners and set-up, for better or worse (I suggest our new set-up is more likely to see success though...).

That said, ignore would be more beneficial if more people did it. Every little helps and all that.

Nope, no follow up... I'm actually annoyed with my self for biting in the first place. Wasn't trying to start an argument. Merely trying to make the point, that, if you offer no support to the Club in your posts or replies. Then you are not a supporter. You may be a customer, or even a follower. But by definition, you are not a supporter.
