Going to struggle to get their places back at this rate.
Clarke and Broadhead have been outstanding.

I love JD but if this upgrade is what we need to take us to the next level, then alas so be it - and I'm sure he'll be a phenomenal sub/team player (and let's face it he needed a break)

I hate to say it because how can anyone not love JD but Clarke is an absolutely enormous upgrade on this current showing.

I know it's early

But we've got 2 future high £million fullbacks haven't we.

And broadhead looks the perfect partner for chappers.

I'm sad for JD but Clarke is ridiculously good for this level, much like Davis.

Broadhead also looking a big upgrade on Harness.

Loved Clarke so far but Morecambe have been shocking. They keep giving the ball back to us and have very little press. Our weakness is the latter. They're playing into our hands.

Agreed, they just look much better footballers, which is perhaps to be expected given they have played a lot of games in the Championship this season.

I suppose we haven't seen much of Clarke from a defensive point of view, but his power and pace suggests he will be equally as good at defending.

Clarke reminds me of a right sided "Herminator"...
Broadhead looks very busy. His off the ball, is creating nice little channels which Freddy and Chaplin have exploited...
Ladapo has been unplayable with back to goal.. So it might be Hirst who finds it hard to walk straight in..
Regardless, Harness and Hirst aren't the worst to bring on later on...
Be nice to see Broadhead get on the scoresheet, and Hirst, too, later on...

They are part of a tremendous SQUAD - that is just important as having a first choice TEAM

You have to feel for Janoi. Hardly put a foot wrong but we're gone and got an absolute coup in his position.

Fair comment, broadhead I've said will fire us to the championship this year or next so be it,
Clarke best full debut I've seen in years,

Fullbacks/wingbacks are arguably the most important players in modern football. Money well spent in my opinion.

You could see that Burns really benefited from having Clarke behind him.

Agree very much with all of that, very much.

The Hreiðarsson analogy hadn't occurred to me, but I see what you mean. Exciting times ahead, methinks.

You can see how well thought out this recruitment session has been, and I've got more faith than ever in the Gamechanger regime now, including McKenna, Ashton and all the bods behind the scenes who are doing the analysis and coaching.

I might be a crazy glass half full type, but the little wobble might even have come at just the right time for us, both in terms of driving the recruitment, but also perhaps in terms of hardening up the mindset and balance towards aggressive attacking over the ultra-pretty play in a ruthless charge for points. Although to be honest, there was a lot of both last night.

It’s not about the starting XI, it’s about the strength of the group.

Very easy to forget just how good Donacien has been for 18 months.

Both Harness and Donacien very much still important jobs to do between now and the end of the season.

Indeed. Also that this was against a Morecambe side who looked wide open throughout the game (definitely our movement but also the early goal and generally them looking a little undercooked as well).

Most games and most oppositions aren’t like that. Broadhead and Clarke look very exciting and quality additions but it’s one game. Donacien and Harness would also have had a field day but we know they stand up to the off-the-ball demands and defensive pressures in tighter games too. So it wouldn’t surprise me if both are back against Burnley.

Out of contract in the summer too. I so hope we keep him but we probably won’t if we go up.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!
