Anyone else think it’s a bit cheeky of the club.. 20:11 - Feb 7 with 2982 viewsLeistonBlue

To advertise and sell iFollow audio passes for tonight, despite knowing full well that people could listen to it for free on bbc sounds? Seems like they’re just hoping people don’t notice it’s on bbc and throw away £2.50 for no reason..

Isn't it just automatically there, and because that's what iFollow offers rather than anything to do with the club specifically? I don't think they've cynically done it. Not seen it "advertised".

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I think sometimes people forget the club is a business.

I've been loyal to Tesco's for fooking years, I'm still waiting for one of their staff to say to me, "I wouldn't bother if I were you; you can get that cheaper at Morrisons mate"

And also paying for a product that is not as good as the free Radio Suffolk commentary.

Does the audio pass just offer radio commentary or is it Glenn W?

Most likely Glenn W, so an argument that it is a different product.

Also, the only legitimate way for non-UK residents to listen to the game.

...but do signatures really work?

Not really... isn't it a different commentary team these days? RS is better imo but each to their own.

Edit: And as (the welcome return of) Majorers notes, it's for overseas as well.

It’s not GW - he tweeted he couldn’t get time off work to make it to the game. (Legit, not making that up)

It’s probably more lazy than cheeky. There’s a service and it’s running as normal. Nobody’s probably had the time or thought to disrupt the system (should have got Banksy on the case!) and point people to the Beeb instead. That could have been a bit of detail that had earned them some credit, but probably not a lot and it not that important. Most people would know it’s on the Beeb I’d have thought.

Also, I don't think iFollow would take too kindly to the club advertising another (free) service instead of the one they're contracted to.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Indeed geolocked to UK only. A short trip on VPN Airlines would resolve thought I would think.

But it was because I'd fallen asleep in The Netherlands that I found I couldn't get the RS comm online - just kept getting audio message that comm wasn't available "for contractual reasons".

Took the fastest ever flight back to Blighty for me to get dear ol Brenners dulcet tones 😂

This article suggests VPN with the UK as the country does work for live football.

It may not strictly be legitimate but a Brit abroad listening to football commentary isn't, so far as I am aware, depriving anyone of any revenues, given there won't be a local football commentary on the game.

EDIT: Actually that's wrong. I suppose I-follow is being deprived of the revenue.

You get no arguments from me. Regional blocks in a globalized internet make zero sense. It's an antiquated model.
