Where do we stand on them?

A fine example of new owners working to understand the history of a club, mixing with fans in sincerity, bringing investment and success to a team and local area?

or

A crass example of yankeedoodledandy imperialism and narcissistic crises aimed at clicks and likes and TV money and clout?

I'm on the fence.

Having watched the series, I think they're doing a fantastic job.

They're really thinking about the bigger picture and the community as a whole and it's great to see them falling in love with football and the club.

It's also often how they reference the American franchise system and the lack of promotion and relegation in their leagues. Which is ironic as it's the complete opposite of the self-created American Dream.

When a club spends money there will always be envy from other directions. We know there are plenty of wrong ways of running a club however they seem to be doing it the right way if such a thing exists (if you look at the views football Twitter there's no such thing!).

There fans are having a good time.... 4k travelled last night. Not bad for a non league side on a Tuesday night...
I don't take much notice of other teams, tbf. Unless we are directly involved with them in our own journey. But from what little I've seen of the Wrexham "thing". There's a real buzz around the club and the area. And, imo, that's what football clubs should be bringing to a community... The snipers will snipe out of jealousy. In the same way some team's fan bases target us... If I'm a Wrexham fan, I'm not listening to the noise and I'm enjoying the ride..

Are you Scottish?

No, my stepdad who raised me was though. He used to take me up to Ibrox when I was a kid.

Funnily enough, he played for Wrexham’s reserves/youth team between 1978-81.

Surely as an Ipswich supporter now owned by similarly sincere Americans seeking to buy- success in a minor league its all hunky dory and apple pie time - and lets have a gun shop in the fan zone.

From what little Ive seen of the TV show it seems harmless enough but it’ll inevitably end badly when the glass ceiling is reached.

They seem to be doing things the right way by focussing on developing the ground as well as just buying expensive players. The media stuff is OTT but if I was a Hollywood actor, I'd use my skills to shine a light on the club to get extra revenue.

I quite liked the documentary, too. It wasn't in the same league as Sunderland Till I Die, but it was better than the Arsenal and Man City offerings. Tottenham's was somewhere in the middle, but largely because Mourinho's personality carried it.

I don't mind when people put money into football, it's those who take it out of clubs like the Glazers at Man Utd or Oystons at Blackpool or like the Bury owner who spent money he didn't have.

I'd hope they have a plan for what happens when their TV show gets dropped, or the manager/players say they won't work under the camera's anymore, can they still afford to keep the club running?

They're multi millionaires, of course they can.
The money spent in the next few years will be astonishing.

They will be fine for the next league or two, they are basically set up with a League One team now but if they get to the championship they will struggle without further investment. They are both multi-millionaires but in football terms, they are not quite at the higher levels required - but by that point they would have such a backing you'd imagine, that further investment is going to be easy to acquire.

People dislike clubs buying their way up the league but the truth is that’s how it’s done now. You need a significant new financial investment every few seasons just to stand still.

It’s better for your club to be a rich persons play thing then an oppressive oil-rich regime’s sports washing vehicle or a ultra-wealthy investor’s vehicle to milk dividends from supporters.

I don’t believe either Ryan Reynolds or Rob McIlheny is an oppressive oil-rich regime so good luck to them. These are the kind of stories that make football interesting.
