Heard that Fin Barbrook had trained with the first team recently though (possibly in part because centre mid is a such a disaster zone!)

In the main, they are not physically ready for first team football.
Baggott is a possible for the first team squad next season. Albie Armin maybe but next season possibly too soon, so a lower level loan would be next steps.
Humphreys is a a couple of years older than many of the team who played last night, and he is still adjusting to the physical and mental demands of playing adult football. | | | |

We have so many players, realsitically none will be particularly close, there is huge traffic just in the U21 squad as well to get past let alone the first team.
As an example, Woody WIlliamson has had a great season as a first year scholar - but there are 7 professional keepers on the books, plus him and Danny Cullen as scholars.
It's a long route to the top - Williamson (1st year) and Gerrard Buabo (2nd year) are the ones in that squad who have played the most for the U21s, Buabo is basically the U21s striker and neither of those 2 had played a league game for the U18s before last weekend where Williamson played so those 2 are the furthest on in that respect.
Harry and Fin Barbrook, Nico Valentine and Dan Cousens behind them for U21 appearances as second year scholars, first year scholars it is Rio Morgan who has kicked on the most |  |

Don't think it's necessarily the case right now that you'll be knocking on the door of the first team at 17/18, even if you're very good.
We've got a big squad, even older players who'll almost certainly have good EFL careers aren't anywhere near our first XI. | |

We are in an unusual position which we simply weren't under Evans of having pretty much two decent senior players in every position
There are simply less opportunities for these players than there used to be, however we seem to be managing our up and coming taken well with a view to loans etc
Morgan, Valentine and Manly in particular, all look like they have decent ability, they just need to grow into their bodies a little bit | |
