Other sports that you refer to don’t have such a large pitch/court or 11 players per team, you also have penalties in such sports as ice hockey for too many men on the area of play at the same time so it would never work as the officials would never be able to keep up or keep track |
Hockey and rugby pitches are much smaller? At league level, there is a 4th official who can easily prevent players entering the pitch until it is clear one has left it? There are penalties for a player entering the field of play when they should not have done (too many players on the area at the same time). If there weren't they could soon be introduced to the rules. |  |

Looks like this will be an unpopular opinion, but I thought overall the ref was decent. The free kick against Ladapo was obviously a howler but refs make the odd mistake at all levels, the offside was the lino's error rather than the ref.
He was at least consistent, whether you agree with the Clarke booking, and I thinj he got that right, he also booked their player for a similar challenge not long after.

Yes, that first clip was obviously not a foul either. But refs seem especially easily convinced by those sort of challenges- I wish they’d wise up to that and not automatically give a fouls just because a player goes to ground. It’s awful reffing across all leagues in those types of situations. | |

Sorry, no. He was backing into his man when the ball was passed and about 3 other defenders were gosl side too. As others have said, it seems like the lino flagged for Davis even though it was pretty clear imho wasn’t involved in the play.
It’s not a biggie, but some of these officials are absolutely useless. |

What makes it a worse decision is the fact that Davis wasn’t offside either. They had 3 defenders all in a line which were further back than him when the ball was played.

Yeah, I actually didn't think the standard he set for the first 20 minutes was all that unreasonable. All 4 were tactical fouls, where the defender gained an advantage by fouling a player running into space.
Once he'd issued a yellow card though the recipient wasn't allowed to get another one, so he bottled various free kick decisions and possible second yellows. |  |
