Is it just me or have the the last 2 games had anyone feeling a bit flat, we are doing everything we can to close the gap on the top 2 but, they just seem to keep finding a way to keep the gap at 5 points; a deflected goal and a very dodgy penalty for Plymouth last night and a massive mistake from Charlton at the start of the 2nd half on Saturday
Last night was disappointing with Derby going 1-0 up and then losing but this weekend is massive in the race for 2nd. If we don't gain ground Saturday then it looks unlikely (but not impossible)
Couldn't feel more different to that to be honest.
We've been superb the last few games, solid at the back under pressure and great going forward. There is nothing we can do about other teams so why focus on it?
Let's enjoy our matches and do our bit by winning and if Plymouth slip up then we will be right there, if not then we will have good form for the PO's.
I think the signings have made a difference, we are looking very good with Broadhead, Luongo and Clarke playing and with Hirst as another striking option.

Even if you take their ppg over the season (having played most of the teams around them, and including their mini blips) at 2.114, they'll finish on 97pts. With their run-in they could easily top this.
So we need 28pts over 11 games to match them. We would need to win 9 games and can only afford dropped points twice.
3 weeks ago today we were 10 points behind Plymouth and both had the same GD.
Today we sit here 5 points behind them with a significantly better GD.
It's frustrating that they were behind last night but they're a good side, they'll win games. What they've also shown in recent weeks is they're capable of drawing and losing them too. We just need to focus on ourselves, go to Bolton and win. If that 5 point gap erodes to 3 or 2 on Saturday then bums will be squeaking in Plymouth.
....not wanting to get too excited, given the inevitability of the next few weeks.
Dispatching these, frankly, awful teams is exactly what we should be doing, the issue is what we do against Bolton, Barnsley, Derby and to a lesser degree Shrewsbury.
Personally, watching Plymouth come back from a goal down to win last night merely made me think......."we wouldn't do that, we're Ipswich".
Obviously I'd be delighted to be proved wrong but I can't see any outcome other than a few poor results over the next 4 matches that will see us in the play offs, against the same teams.......with the same conclusion.
It's natural to feel disappointed that despite our good work we're still where we are but not a lot we can do about that now other than keep winning in case there's a slip from Plymouth. After this weekend their fixtures are significantly easier on paper than ours so it's looking unlikely but you never know what can happen.
The more grating thing for me is if just 3 of the daft draws we've had were wins (which 3 at the very least should have been) we'd be top 2 right now. Plymouth seem like they've come out on the right side of fine margins far more than we have but when all is said and done we've had plenty of opportunities to avoid those things costing us.
Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

They were all crap. It was inevitable we'd close the gap.
In the next 5 games we play 4 of the top 7, lets see what happens.

FFS.
What's the point?
Oh dear. We just won 3-0 without breaking a sweat, the midfield is looking better than at any point since Sylvain Legwinski was in it, and Morsy navigated another 90 minutes without picking up a booking.
If it helps, should the worst happen and we fail to make up the ground on Plymouth AND the one-off nature of the Play Offs throws us a foggy game like random curveball that derails us, then we will just have to keep this team together and we will have the recipe for success next season.
But there is still around a quarter of the season to go, and we have an outside chance of automatic or a good chance via the Play Offs, so look for some positives.

It's not inevitable, they still need to be won and playing against sides fighting for survival isn't easy. Plymouth drew 0-0 at home to Fleetwood in that period, some might've said them winning that was inevitable.
Fact of the matter is we've got 33 points to play for. Unless we can demonstrate we can go to Bolton, Barnsley, Derby, Peterborough and win probably 3 of those then to your point we'll not have done enough against the upper sides to warrant top 2.

....it will definitely be due to fog.

This is what the problem will be if we stay in League One - it's not exciting easily rolling over absolute dross with budgets 1/10th of the size of ours.
In recent games against the lower teams we've done a very professional job - which is better, but it's not as exciting as getting a last minute winner or the like

....a team in the bottom 6 for 10 games.
Swings and roundabouts?
Nah, slides.
I'm talking about the period when they went above us and pulled away, the latter half of December and on into February. Which included Morecambe, Cheltenham (twice), MK and Oxford. All lower-end teams.
Interesting that you didn't raise the handball/red card offence just before half-time here, which would have been 1-0 but for the blatant handball. (35 seconds in)
So much for being lucky?

Clearly an alien concept to you but people have better things to do than obsess over the minutiae of other team's games, and if they didn't have anything better to do than that they'd at least do it on their own team's forum.
Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.
If it helps we’re effectively 4 points behind since we have a far greater goal difference
Point of order: We're effectively 4 and a bit points behind them. If we catch up by 4 points they still win, if we catch up by 5 points we win, so the effective difference is an unspecified point between 4 and 5.
