Is it just me or have the the last 2 games had anyone feeling a bit flat, we are doing everything we can to close the gap on the top 2 but, they just seem to keep finding a way to keep the gap at 5 points; a deflected goal and a very dodgy penalty for Plymouth last night and a massive mistake from Charlton at the start of the 2nd half on Saturday

What is it about TWTD that it attracts so many weird stalkers from other clubs?

Well, the constant disrespect and underestimating of us from the bigger boys at the top end, because we are little old Plymouth, rubs after a while. This thread is just that. Disqualifying our credentials as down to being 'lucky'. It starts to create a very false narrative about us. Even your manager has come out with it today.

This is what the problem will be if we stay in League One - it's not exciting easily rolling over absolute dross with budgets 1/10th of the size of ours.

In recent games against the lower teams we've done a very professional job - which is better, but it's not as exciting as getting a last minute winner or the like

Said this before, but if we don’t go up and we open next season at home to Accrington or Fleetwood on a sunny day in August it’s going to be painful. Although Wednesday failed last year and look at them now.

Disrespect? There’s been almost nothing but grudging praise for you and your relentless form. You keep on winning despite losing good players.

Just enjoy the ride, mate.

It's rubbish though - it's just fans like yourself looking for things to agree with this narrative you've formed and total confirmation bias.

You've had your lead halved over the last 3 weeks, we've gained 5 points on you so I can see why you're getting a bit touchy, but that isn't true. There's generally been a lot of respect for the season Plymouth are having.

I can see a few loose nuts on those near-side wheels though, make sure they don't fall off again.

It is going to run all the way to the end of the season, 11 games to go.

Yes, much as I can't see where Plymouth (or Wednesday) are going to drop enough points for us to catch them, even if we go on a monumental run, we can cling to the hope that last season's run in repeats itself. This time last year MK were seven points behind Rotherham having played the same number of games. By the end they'd closed that gap to one point. Clutching at straws? Probably, but we have to work on the basis it's still up for grabs.

I’ve been really pleased with the last few games.

The inability to put teams away was grating on me. We looked like we had no bottle. One push towards the end of a game and we’d cave. Opposition team talk sorted! In recent games we’ve done what we’ve needed to and done it well. Leaky defence? Not at the moment. Goal shy? Nope. Some of the new players have settled too and we are progressing.

Listen to KM/MAs recent interview with Matt Holland and tell me we are not progressing on and off the field. That’s the most important thing for me.

Plymouth? They deserve to be where they are. There’s no luck or excuses after 35 games for any team.

We've played Wednesday and Plymouth 4 times and not won once. We weren't good enough to get the job done and that's the reality of it. They probably have been the two most consistent sides in L1 this season. Look at Wednesday, 21 games unbeaten in the league, that's an incredible record. 3rd is probably about right for us, it's the large number of draws that will cost us ultimately.

They are having the luck right now.
Whereas
The luck has been more of less gone against us this season.

Deflected goals, offsides and the fog game where the ref didn’t know the rules.

Let’s just keep winning 3 or 4 so no deflection or ref / Lino can hinder our quest!

It’s not luck, we went on a poor run (poor in terms for a team looking for automatics) that has costa us. Instead of being ahead of them where we were, we are play catch up and hoping.

We’ll be good again... one day

I'm not feeling flat, at all. We're playing well, scoring goals and keeping clean sheets.. Our Jan signings have bedded in nicely. And We're mixing it up a bit more, posing a variety of problems to opposition.. Best case scenario, we keep up our good form, a few things go our way and we scrape top 2. Second prize, is that we head into the play offs, with confidence, and are a form team that others will fear playing... These tricky away games are just what we need, in preparation, for, what will most likely be, a play off league position..Bring it on.

Couldn't feel more different to that to be honest.

We've been superb the last few games, solid at the back under pressure and great going forward. There is nothing we can do about other teams so why focus on it?

Let's enjoy our matches and do our bit by winning and if Plymouth slip up then we will be right there, if not then we will have good form for the PO's.

I think the signings have made a difference, we are looking very good with Broadhead, Luongo and Clarke playing and with Hirst as another striking option.

We look to have turned a corner, and look a far stronger side than December and January, Luongo, Broadhead and Clarke are huge upgrades

Your equalizer against us was a deflected shot. Your goal against Charlton was a gift. That isn't underestimating or disrespecting Plymouth. They are observable facts.

I think the atmospheres in both games fell a bit flat, as they can do in games against teams like these. We turn up expecting to win and win well. If we don't we get nervy, if we do then there isn't anything to get very excited about, especially - as you point out - Plymouth keep winning and we feel at arms length.

I'm hoping we can at least cut the difference to Plymouth and get a bit more jeopardy in the games which has felt missing recently, although of course that will be as much up to what they do as what we do.

I think it was the fact that early doors we were just 2 points behind them , and 3 , finally back to 5 , so yeh felt a little disappointed, but we go again Saturday …. COYBs

What added to the disappointment around Plymouths result is that, of last nights game and Saturday, it was definitely the preference for them to drop points last night...
If they lose on Saturday it is obviously great for us, but it probably puts Barnsley as favourites to catch them over us. As much as our form is better, theirs is excellent and over a longer period of time. Plus they would also have done what we havent and beaten one of the top two on that run.

And nobody said that they were purely luck either.

Several have pointed out that the way they bullied Derby to turn the match around is the difference between them and us. We rarely turn a game around when behind and Plymouth seem to be able to do so regularly. They seem to get that margin of staying the right side of the officials right too.

We might hope the pressure will tell but they were desperately unlucky their points tally last season didn't give them a chance in the play-offs. I think they will see it through this time but time will tell. All we can do is put as much pressure on them as we can.
