Why would I aim racist remarks at African politicians? The OP is probably xenophobic, definitely silly, but why is it racist in your opinion? It relates to Charles' national heritage, not his ethnicity.

Yes you’re right, xenophobic rather than racist.

Unless I missed something none of those people or GB's example are the head of an institution loved by nationalist, jingoistic, flag waving, subservient loons so it doesn't carry quite the same irony factor. Anyway carry on trying to feel virtuous some of you!

Nope.

Thought not. Thanks.

Why not though? They're all examples of leaders/heads of state visiting the land of their forebears, just the same as in your example. Like I said I can understand the point you are trying to make - abolish the monarchy, screw the privileged etc - but one rule for all surely?

It's not one rule for all though and nor should it be as you strip away a ton of important context. To bring it back to a football example, there's a world of difference between saying Gareth Bale looks like a chimp and saying a Black player looks like a chimp. You can't strip out context, which is why blueas' test is flawed.

Hmmm….prompts a thought.

A description of racism.

“ Racism is the belief that groups of humans possess different behavioral traits corresponding to inherited attributes and can be divided based on the superiority of one race over another. Modern variants of racism are often based in social perceptions of biological differences between peoples. These views can take the form of social actions, practices or beliefs, or political systems in which different races are ranked as inherently superior or inferior to each other, based on presumed shared inheritable traits, abilities, or qualities.”

Is supporting a monarchy, e.g. being supportive of a group of people, that are in a minority, that have privilege and a position in society that is superior, purely based on birth, racist?

See Joe's point about the current Tory party and come back to me.

I'm not feeling virtuous about anything. I asked you a question and made it clear that I understood what you were trying to say. I was interested in what made you use that as an example when citing others in similar circumstances would in all likelihood end up with you being called out. It just seems like a really weird attack line, so I was trying to understand it a bit better, rather than head down the tried and trusted Ad Hominem route.

I'm not claiming racism, so you're probably best at aiming that at Blueas. And I certainly don't need guide to what racism is.

I thought 'attack this guy because of who he is' was a really strange line to take when if it was applied to other similar examples it would open the OP up to the kind of accusations being made on this thread, so I was trying to understand it better.

That's daft. Saying a black person looks like a chimp is a vile racial stereotype. Saying it to a white person in meaningless.

Using xenophobic tropes against a wealthy and privileged person is still a xenophobic trope.

Surely there is an obvious difference here? The people you listed are all quite rightly proud of their ancestry and don't attempt to hide it. While Charlie and his family have spent their time distancing themselves from an trying to hide their German ancestry for some reason...

I don't know about you but I learned about the Windsor's ancestry when I was in primary school. All they've done is change their surname and that's not a secret.

My great Grandfather modified the spelling of my family name when he came to this country in 1900 ish in a (failed) attempt to protect himself and his family from xenophobia. I don't think anyone would have to do that now, but I'm sure he was no less proud of his heritage than anyone else.

My family also changed their name as recently as the 1950,s. But we are all quite proud of our heritage and have made little attempt to hide it. Not seen Charlie today but did he announce his proud ancestry at all?

Does he have to when the entire country learned it at school? Or do you feel that everyone should go round wrapped in their ancestral flag to avoid accusations of hiding anything?

His dad was Greek.

The last German born male ancestor of his was born in 1819, not the bloody 1950's.

Do you know where your great, great great Grandad was born by any chance?

Yes, his race........our race

The human race

While I have no time for the royal family, it doesn't mean I wish any of them any ill, personally.

And you would have to go back to Charlies great grandparents to find any German blood. Mary of Teck, who was only half German - which means he is 1/16th German

I expect Bankruptcy is more a reflection on his ideas, than any political comment.

For the record I am a very small part Spanish, in that my fathers side originally came from the Western Isles of Scotland and it is believed some sailors from the Spanish Armada were shipwrecked there and procreated.

I did visit Tenerife some while back, but did not think I was among my people.... apart from there being a plane load from Manchester staying in the same hotel.

Tbf Jo has a very fair point, however the government is not at the center of a nationalistic construct beloved of cap doffers in the same way as the monarchy. In essence the OP is more about the fawners than Charlie but perhaps everyone is over thinking it!
The virtuous thing wasn't aimed at you just a general point.
