That first goal, clearly the town fans didn't realise it was in until the players celebrated.

Hirst's goal excellent

Thought 3rd was going to be offside

Now I need to try to sleep, night all, sweet dreams

That finish by Hirst is so classy, a standard above L1. Similar to his goal at Derby where he has to pause and steady himself.

I love that the first goal had such a delay from the town fans and you got to hear the players yell. Not very often do you have to wait for the players to celebrate to figure out if it was a goal or not.

I thought that too. With both you thought the chance had gone almost but he hits it so hard. He's quality. My Blackburn mate didn't rate him at all. Hope he scores for us next season against them.

His first goal for us was so important and impressive but that was his best last night I think. So much determination.

Ever watching on iFollow, my celebration was muted. I just wen't, "Is that in?" and then shouted the house down. Just looked an impossible angle. Looking at the replay I do wonder if it will end up as an own goal for the keeper.

Only ends up as an own goal is it wasn't otherwise going in... its a poor attempt at a save, but no way is that not Broadhead's goal

Similarly I have a Blackburn mate who thought he was rubbish. Think he never got a run of games there really and we've seen ourselves that he's a player who maybe takes a few games to really get going. So glad we persevered with him as back in January, Ladapo was in great form and probably deserved to be starting ahead of Hirst. It shows McKenna's quality as a manager that he could see the bigger picture and gave Hirst a run of games to get up to speed, he's been absolute quality since.

He needed quite a few games so his overall stats aren't that impressive.

I spent a lot of time on Owlstalk this morning and this one thread in particular rankled. I realise they have beef with Hirst, but they're taking raw stats and misrepresenting his time with us.

"cameo role at Ipswich"
"5 goals in 19 games"
"4 goals in 18 for Ipswich. PROLIFIC "

I feel he's an important part of our squad and keeping out a 20-goal striker.

Oh, and bump the highlights. It's been an hour since I last saw them

Let's hope Leicester do the same when comes to their valuation of him. Only 5 in 19? Give him away.

Think that's how the stats can be so misleading. Like his stint at Rotherham was it? Where he played X amount of games but so many of them were coming on towards the end of matches in a struggling side, and often stuck out wide.

They're pretty meaningless, you only need to watch him to see his quality. He's a natural striker, strong, physical, quick, good in the air, intelligent, can finish. Head and shoulders above any forward we've had here in years.

He suits us with the space he can creates behind, but at present doesn’t score enough in a side that creates lots, last night missed the 1 on 1, great goal, also missed the off side one second half.

Not a £5-6m pound striker for me at present but could definitely be worth slot of cash with some work.

The only Muff in Town.
