Hirst signing 18:53 - May 28 with 5802 views | Tommy_ITFC | With Leicester relegated , does that see a potential permanent singing of George Hirst a big doubt? Or do people reckon he will still join? I certainly hope he comes. [Post edited 17 Jun 2023 12:43]

Hirst signing on 20:37 - May 28 by SmithersJones | I suspect, given his patchy record elsewhere, we’d be prepared to pay more for him than anyone else. So if Leicester hold on to him for a bit to see what happens to their other strikers, and we buy someone else, his value immediately drops. |
Do not underestimate players wanting to be coached by McKenna. A successful couple of seasons in the champ will likely give him a good chance of securing a Prem deal, either with or without us. KM improving players is a big selling point we have at the moment.

Hirst signing on 20:08 - May 28 by BigCommon | This one is gonna drag on, ain't it?.... Have a feeling, that the window might be a slow one to begin with. Given the larger sums of money that will be involved, potentially. I'd like Hirst here. But I hope we've got other irons in the fire.. There's a lot to be done with both ins and outs, and any in house contracts to sort. So I'm preparing myself to be patient, and trust MA, KM and whoever else, to be on top of everything. Thought we made good progress, in KM's first two proper windows. Hopefully more of the same in this one... |
In reality, we're unlikely to know much about what's happening until it is in the bag. Ashton has been clear that's how he wants to operate. Things may appear to be moving slowly, while real action is taking place behind the scenes.

Hirst signing on 19:40 - May 28 by ITFC_Josh | The way I look at it though, surely if they’re loosing Vardy, Daka, Ineinacho etc etc they’re going to need 2/3 strikers in their squad, so surely they’ll just keep him as a cheap 2/3 option instead of bringing someone else in? |
I think Vardy will be there next season. He’s reportedly on 140k a week, even if that gets cut in half with relegation I can’t imagine another club taking him on those wages at 36 years old.

There's more references to Geoff Hurst on their site than George Hirst they don't even have his photo against his name. One fan asked if he was Geoff Hursts son. Their fans place no value on him at all he would be mad not to want to come here where he is wanted.

From our perspective he's the striker who just fired us to promotion. From their perspective his career record in the Championship is 0 goals in 40 appearances. I think there's very little chance they'd trust him enough to play the role of main backup.

Hirst signing on 19:23 - May 28 by gtsb1966 | Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha is worth nearly 3 billion though. Its entirely up to him the way the club goes. Has he lost interest? |

Hirst signing on 19:30 - May 28 by cbower | I see that Phil but suspect they will try to sell the big names and big earners first to see where the land lies and will hold on to Hirst for far longer than we would want. After all, his wage is relative peanuts and the fee he would command (estimate 3-5 million?) a drop in the ocean to them. I, like most, want him here but I don’t want to be waiting until late in the window and end up with an Ahadme-esque signing on deadline day. Neither will McKenna or Ashton. I suspect if he isn't here by the 2nd week in July, we will look elsewhere. |
Maybe the want to the big fees ,But on the other hand if they got 2/ 3 million for Hirst it would pay the clubs wages for a month and give them time to try and get a bidding war for some players.
Hirst signing on 10:57 - May 29 with 1028 views | jayessess | Just out of curiosity I was looking through Leicester's contract situation to see how bad the damage is. They've got 8 players out of contract, mostly big earners (Evans, Tielemans, Soyuncu, Amartey, Tete, Bertrand, Mendy, Perez), so likely 25% of that wage bill disappears overnight. Add in a £50m fee for Maddison and that probably covers them for the next 12 months. Every other sale beyond that could probably go towards strengthening the squad. They'd still have the likes of Justin, Thomas, Castagne, Pereira, Souttar, Barnes, Dewsbury-Hall, Daka, Iheanacho as significant saleable assets, plus lots of other experienced pros. Extremely good chance they win the Championship easily next season. (An aside, what madness drove them to have Jamie Vardy, a player famously reliant on his mad quick acceleration, contracted at £150k until well after his 37th birthday!?)

Hirst signing on 19:34 - May 28 by Kievthegreat | I was reading that while the family is worth billions, because the King Power group is a travel company, they took enormous losses during Covid which means they don't have as much free cash lying around as they used to. |
A Leicester season ticket holder friend says that the son is nowhere near as shrewd as his father & is something of a playboy, getting involved in racehorse ownership, polo teams etc & the club hasn't been well run over the past few years. COVID will also have given their duty free shops a big hit. Leicester seem keen to cut costs & have several players out of contract. Maddison will be sold, but not for a huge fee as only a year left on his contract. They shouldn't have given Vardy a 2 year deal as he now has 1 year on huge wages & isn't the player he was. Hirst won't attract a big fee & won't be on high wages so he could be a good cut price option for them next season. nothing will be decided quickly , especially as we don't know who will be managing Leicester next season.

These days I don't think you necessarily need a manager to sign off on letting go non-first team players. If we were managerless, I don't think we'd wait for a new guy if we got a good enough offer for the likes of Harper and Pigott, we'd just let Ashton sign off on it. It'll get done quick either if they'd already made the decision on Hirst's longer term future in January or if Hirst pushes for it to get done. (If I were Hirst, I'd absolutely push on it. He needs a good pre-season with a club prepared to stand by him by him as the 9. Be an absolute disaster for him if he gets jerked around all Summer and then ends up either a fringe player/impact sub at Leicester or suddenly trying to get up to speed somewhere new in Late August) [Post edited 29 May 2023 12:00]
