Hirst signing 18:53 - May 28 with 5804 views | Tommy_ITFC | With Leicester relegated , does that see a potential permanent singing of George Hirst a big doubt? Or do people reckon he will still join? I certainly hope he comes. [Post edited 17 Jun 2023 12:43]

Hirst signing on 18:55 - May 28 with 4235 views | gainsboroughblue | Leicester players haven't hit the shower yet and there's been three Hirst threads already. I'm going six before the end of the night.

Think Leicester will probably be after selling anything they can, seems a bit of a mess behind the scenes. Was told as much last summer when we were trying to sign Hirst then. There's going to be a significant shortfall wages-wise.

Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha is worth nearly 3 billion though. Its entirely up to him the way the club goes. Has he lost interest?
Hirst signing on 19:29 - May 28 with 3846 views | ArchiRob | Should make any negotiations easier - his wage has just halved. As far as any over championship clubs are concerned their going to look at a player who has not scored a Championship goal yet and will be considered a risk together with the previous injury record unlikely to be fighting for his services

Tho the question then is always how much of that is cash which can be spent on a football club? Often (as we found latterly with Evans) people with business ownership-based wealth don't have the liquid funds to splash out. Especially if they've already put a lot in.

I see that Phil but suspect they will try to sell the big names and big earners first to see where the land lies and will hold on to Hirst for far longer than we would want. After all, his wage is relative peanuts and the fee he would command (estimate 3-5 million?) a drop in the ocean to them. I, like most, want him here but I don’t want to be waiting until late in the window and end up with an Ahadme-esque signing on deadline day. Neither will McKenna or Ashton. I suspect if he isn't here by the 2nd week in July, we will look elsewhere.

I know there is a significant guess required here but I can’t work out given contract drop clauses, parachute payments and some high profile fire sales whether they will be fine or in a complete mess ! I do think they will need to sell everything that has a buyer and quick otherwise next season will be a write off too. There is no point waiting with the wages they are carrying if it doesn’t let you move forwards quickly. I don’t see how Hirst is part of their immediate future either, he needs a home and he needs to settle at his age, not be part of a re-emerging team that is being broken up then rebuilt. I'm not sure they really want him. I think the new contract last summer was just to make sure they didn't miss out on a fee for him, indeed they agreed a potential fee with Blackburn. And I suspect they're in a situation where they'll sell pretty much anything that isn't nailed down.

I was reading that while the family is worth billions, because the King Power group is a travel company, they took enormous losses during Covid which means they don't have as much free cash lying around as they used to.

Agree, I don't see that he'll be in their immediate plans and they'll be in a position where they need to sell.

And you would imagine that if he knows that his agent will be pushing for a sale as well

I hope so. Sign him quick as I think he is very important to how we play. It's clear McKenna really rates him.

The way I look at it though, surely if they’re loosing Vardy, Daka, Ineinacho etc etc they’re going to need 2/3 strikers in their squad, so surely they’ll just keep him as a cheap 2/3 option instead of bringing someone else in?

If I had a pound for every time someone misspelt his name,,,

Hirst signing on 19:51 - May 28 with 3565 views | Mercian | They're quite low on strikers with Vardy, Iheanacho and Daka their only real first team options. Vardy is on a steep decline and Daka will have suitors. I think they will want to keep Hirst.

Possible, but I think it's more likely they'd be looking to cash in.

I'd hate to have to sign his cheques.

Hirst signing on 20:04 - May 28 with 3459 views | Simonds92 | No. If anything it makes it a lot more likely. We can now afford to match his wages and they need money.

Hirst signing on 20:08 - May 28 with 3413 views | BigCommon | This one is gonna drag on, ain't it?.... Have a feeling, that the window might be a slow one to begin with. Given the larger sums of money that will be involved, potentially. I'd like Hirst here. But I hope we've got other irons in the fire.. There's a lot to be done with both ins and outs, and any in house contracts to sort. So I'm preparing myself to be patient, and trust MA, KM and whoever else, to be on top of everything. Thought we made good progress, in KM's first two proper windows. Hopefully more of the same in this one...

Indeed, thought we looked a better side virtually from his first game even if his goals took a few games to come. Think he'll only get better.

I suspect, given his patchy record elsewhere, we’d be prepared to pay more for him than anyone else. So if Leicester hold on to him for a bit to see what happens to their other strikers, and we buy someone else, his value immediately drops.
