West Ham fans letting themselves down now. (n/t) on 21:12 - Jun 7 by garygboltonblue

It was worse in the cup semi final replay at Stamford Bridge in 75

It’s hardly the crime of the century is it.

30’000 fans and a lighter thrown. There’s probably more disorder at the Trimley St Mary women’s institute meetings.

How many pages would Heysel have warranted on TW4TD?

Fans drawing blood from players has no place in the game.

So you'd be ok with strangers coming to your place of work and pelting you with cups and lighters?
Or are you just trying to be edgy?

Yeah, they were throwing stuff into the pitch in the first couple of minutes. Behaviour like this seems to be creeping into the game more. There’s been a noticeable change post-Covid in the UK from what I’ve seen. Not that lockdowns and the stress of going through Covid is going to be the sole cause of course. I wonder how the general ‘sh*tness’ of life at the moment feeds into this (cost of living, divisive populist politics, etc). It’s not just us either; there’s a lot of anger in crowds across Europe at the moment with incidents kicking off in a lot of places. Nobody’s happy.

The Italians who attacked WHU fans during the day with weapons must be furious.
There is a tremendous amount of football violence in Europe this season, Frankfurt in Naples being one of the worst. Very little trouble from followers of English clubs (due in part to the effective banning orders).

There are around 15k West Ham fans inside the stadium.

But nothing happens that REALLY hurts the club, so they continue.

Sheff Wed throwing objects, investigation opened, went nowhere, no deterrent.

Correct me if I am wrong but it was the Thatcher Government that banned English teams from Europe due to the behaviour of English fans wasn't it? Not even UEFA taking action there.

As mentioned above, it is the individuals that should be properly dealt with, but a fine for the club that has real impact on them would not go amiss and make sure there is real desire among the fans to prevent anyone doing it.

Stand corrected dear boy.

It was UEFA.

Colin Moynohan, the minature of sport.

The morning after Italian police had gone full on mental in Cagliari and indiscriminately kicked the sh1t out of countless fans with no regards for who was getting a baton, CM thanked them for their conduct.

Utter w@nker who would no doubt be well thought of by the Twtd "punish them all" brigade.

Amazing how little respect for legal process some people have.

He was a massive knob.

A typical private schoolboy career politician who had no desire to do what politicians should do by way of making life better.

An utter moron.

I didn’t say she wasn’t.

Not sure if you were about at the time but English fans caused havoc wherever they went, proper large scale disorder and looting of shops wherever they went.

Turin and Basel were crazy.

The whole football casual look started because of Aberdeen and Liverpool fans using football as a weapon to loot all the shops for the gear - before M&M started selling cheap second grade stuff 😂

Not sure how many lighters were thrown though, I guess it was more darts and 2p coins back then.

In fact - I was only talking about this with RKD the other night. The sound of the clutter of coins hitting the segregation cages in the NS was incredible.

For this reason I sort of poo poo the odd lighter. It’s really a bit of nothing.

A bit fannyish really.

Many people used to die of dysentery before we had proper sewers and plumbing but I don't see too many people saying we should go back to that.

Sometimes it's good to move on and have a new standard of what's acceptable.

Just the one of them throwing hard plastic cups at their players every time they had a corner was it.

I never end being amazed the amount of our fans that think this sort of ballocks is acceptable if its "only a couple doing it"

Do me a favour, I don't generally reply to you because there's no bloody point, you are the oracle on everything, so why engage?

You also tend to downvote me like a petulant child, I seriously don't get it.

Some might say - self appointed SB - but I wouldn't dare comment on that.

I think that's a pretty awful post which you should edit.

To think that someone might have mental troubles because they don't agree with what you post a lot of the time and thus downvote or challenge it is unbelievable.

I wish you well in overcoming whatever mental demons you've been struggling with.

The thing is, your responses are all because I don't think it's OK to throw lighters at players, hardly a controversial opinion outside of 1980.

I'm amazed that you think it's fine to be honest just because worse things used to happen.

Enjoy your evening.

I didn't say at any point it's fine to throw lighters at a player, I merely stated that in the great scheme of things.............

You seem to be drawing equivalence between someone throwing an empty plastic beer glass and throwing a lighter/vape.

If the throwing of empty beer glasses genuinely upsets you I would respectfully suggest you never go to a festival, cricket match or pop concert as such behaviour is widespread and you really cant get away from it am afraid.

Is it acceptable? Doesn't really bother me and I generally ignore it, though I did once take part in making a 'snake" at the cricket which was mildly amusing, culminating in watching the stewards going in to try and prevent the impending carnage of a showering from the dregs of plastic glasses for all around.

Thankfully they acted in a swift and effective way you'll be relieved to hear.
