Inflation finally coming down on 13:14 - Jul 19 by Herbivore | Well it's the bit where everything costs 8% a year more than last year and 18% more than 2 years ago that I'm struggling to see how is good for all our pockets. |
maybe it should of said less bad for our pockets!

Well, perhaps more to the point yes. But inflation falling is still good news is it not - as opposed to inflation still going up!

Inflation finally coming down on 13:27 - Jul 19 with 1440 views | DJR | Hands up how many on here are in the majority who think that halving inflation (one of Sunak's pledges) means prices will go down or stay the same? "Halving inflation will not mean that prices go down. But when Survation asked people what it would mean in practice, most people wrongly said that the pledge would either mean prices going down (32%) or staying the same (31%). Only 23% said that this still meant prices would go up." [Post edited 19 Jul 2023 13:28]

Inflation finally coming down on 13:27 - Jul 19 with 1428 views | HARRY10 | Rather like claiming that the months until this ragbag of incompetents and spivs are thrown out of office are getting less, so it is good news. Conveniently overlooking the damage still being done. Strangely enough I had that conversation with another rightie last night. He had some how got it into his silly head (via kGBVews) that as wholesale prices to supermarkets were not increasing as much as before, it would mean prices would fall. Using this source of ignorance, he argued that the UK was level with other Europeans countries on inflation, and lower in some cases. It is not, it is around a third higher. You have to wonder at how many other thickos there are out there swallowing obvious, let's say, misleading 'facts'. He too was also squeaking about how prices were coming down now was a 'cunning plan' by the Tories to win the GE in 2024, or so it seems. We shall see Friday when the by election results are known.

Of course prices will still go up. Inflation is still a positive figure. But just less steeply at 7% as opposed to 11%. It's not hard to understand.

I forgot to say that I wasn't one of those who raised their hand, but, worryingly, the polling suggests that it is difficult for most people to understand. And people may think that when it is achieved, Sunak has achieved more than he actually has. But I don't disagree with you that a fall in inflation is good news. [Post edited 19 Jul 2023 13:37]

But it does not explain why the UK's inflation rate is far higher than that of Europe. And to squeak about it being good news is to claim that the hot weather in July is good news. Or the extra hours of daylight are good news. The fall in inflation was expected, hence the absurd Prime Miniature squeaking about how it was one of his five promises. The others being to get Xmas to be 25th Dec. Grow the population and reduce the number of kids in schools in August. Good news, it's August next month.

Inflation finally coming down on 09:40 - Jul 20 with 1244 views | the_toff | Better than I had feared, still a long way to go though. Needs to be down at 2% for a period of time and then a sensitive cycle of interest rates falling back to 2-3% base.

Oh dear. It's embarrassing that a national newspaper with a large readership is publishing nonsense like this.

Yep, can't think of any decisions of which the consequences of have been hidden by pandemics and wars that could be having a huge impact on inflation. Nope Nothing, Just unlucky I guess

This is designed to dupe its readers because it's the biggest cheerleader for the Tories there is. EDIT: this was meant to be a response to Blueasfook's response to the Daily Express headline. [Post edited 20 Jul 2023 10:31]

Yeah fook the Tories, let's not forget Liz Truss's disastrous fiscal move that saw the pound tank to an all-time low. |
Nice to know that they still managed to give staff bonuses worth £25 mill over the last year.

Aha, the old rightie excuse.... they are all as bad as each other. Odd how righties cannot help themselves from err, making up stuff. By and large the rest, the progressive side of politics are honest. The lies come from the right, they always have,as cheaper food, removal of VAT on fuel bills. levelling up...... That requires ignorance whereby those dim enough to swallow blatant lies are not able (willing >) to check up on stuff themselves, and trust 'their betters'.
