Our CB situation 23:04 - Sep 1 with 2697 viewshomer_123

Woolf
Edmunson
Burgess
Baggot

However, in addition, you have Clarke, with Ball and Williams in the building who can play right back, then Clarke is also a CB. I can actually see Clarke ending up as a CB in the longer term anyway but that is for another discussion.

We really are not that light at CB.

Got to say that would look a lot stronger with Tuanzebe's name on there. Really hope he's fit and we get him in.

Not wrong J2 but it's not as bad as many make out.

Assuming Woolf and Burgess stay fit.

I do agree it's not terrible but I will be a lot happier if Tuanzebe signs. Let's hope no other top end Championship/low end Prem teams suddenly get a CB injury.

Better go and tell Ashton and McKenna that then as they've been trying to get another CB in all summer.

I'm.absolutely sick of this. He's a champ quality CB. Stop it.

You started this on Baggott and went full circle In about a week. You are obsessed with picking a player and just bashing them. Burns before last season. Then you went Baggott. Changed mind, now Edmundson.

No I discuss those in positions being spoke about.

You seem upset that some not just me aren't as positive about him at present. Relax. It's just a player.

We all hope he comes good as he was a very very good defender.

I've been pretty vocal in defending our transfer activity this Summer, but no point pretending that we didn't want to strengthen our CB options is there?

Sure we've got numbers there, and we'll be fine, but it has been clear that we've wanted to get another starting 11 contender for that position.

I'm honestly pretty happy with where our squad is at overall, but I would have liked to see a CB with championship experience signed. Matey on trial may well be that, so I guess we'll have to wait and see!

I know there's always a few flaps, but I'm surprised how entitled and babyish they've been in such numbers.

It's almost like those 4/5 years of relegation and League One football might have damaged our standing a bit isn't it?

Yeah as I've said elsewhere I think there's the usual crew who just want to find a negative in absolutely everything and are enjoying having a good old whinge but am slightly baffled by the insistence in some quarters that everything's gone to plan and/or, for e.g., it's actually fine to have targeted a CB all window and not end up getting one.

Bit annoying as well to have people call you a bedwetter and accuse you of wanting to sign anyone and everyone, break FFP rules and imply you don't understand how football works just if you very mildly suggest we could have done better this window. Makes it hard to have a sensible conversation about the whole thing!

Agree think there's still a lot to be enjoyed about this season, think we'll be competitive in the vast majority of games and as a spectator the matches will be a better watch than the dross served up by opponents last season.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

We have plenty of CB cover this is true, what it doesn’t have is quality, in depth. There’s one thing to have Ball or Edmundson playing at CB as cover, but they’re not stunning examples of decent CB ‘s ….in my humble opinion of course. We are of course upgrading the squad. This is a gradual process, and if the owners and Ashton / McKenna have a dream to develop the squad to become a strong top 6 Championship club and ultimately a Club that can survive in the PL, we will most definitely need to sort the defence out.

Have a feeling Baggott will profit from Town not getting in an experienced CB.

While not wishing an injury on Burgess believe that if Baggott gets a chance to start in a Championship game he will be difficult to dislodge.

Would like to see, in the next League Cup encounter, Woolfenden & Baggott starting alongside each other.

While players getting minutes in is fine in the first couple of rounds from third round onwards it is more about progressing and giving different pairing competitive games.

Absolutely. People like Trusty who we were linked with would have been excellent. But the window got inflated on fees and also the level of team coming down being high (and actually the ones going up not being big boys) meant we haven't been able to land those types. We can't spend silly money and we've just been sensible and pragmatic.

That's not what you do mate. You come in with little slide remarks (see above). In no way is Edmundson playing in the champ a remotely scary prospect. He's a good CB.

Previously you slated Baggott after a pre season game (a very young player coming through our youth system). Childish and pretty loathsome behaviour. You went full circle on that after he had 1 good game and then suddenly Edmundson was the problem CB.

Last season burns was never good enough.

After 1 interview of McKenna you called him smarmy.

What you actually do is you make snap judgements, make snide and childish remarks about them being rubbish/not good enough etc. You often double down on it despite it being a snap judgement etc etc.

It's really tiresome, really unhelpful and basically anti supporting your club.

(You do get involved in some discussions which is a great and I'm glad you are not the forum as variety is good...bit just think things through or give people time etc etc). Balance mate. See the posts on this thread i.e. no problem with us needing to strengthen CB - doesn't make other CBs at the club doing their best rubbish.

you're still going. You're too sensitive.

You clearly like the bloke. Plenty of us do, did. Etc. He was immense when he came in. At present, solely at present he has looked ropey in his appearences. That doesn't mean he wasn't good. Wasn't great. We all hope he gets back to that level.

Bagott. Even KM was surprised by how well he came on through pre season. So I'm happy to stand by my thoughts made at that time as i always do. ( btw Baggott had a couple of excellent performances not just the 1)

Burns I don't like. I'm not gonna pretend otherwise. I don't need to pretend he'd amazing everyweek I also don't start threads about him but happy to discuss him if I feel he should be depending on the thread.

You need to relax

Edmundson is in desperate need of games. Previously, at Derby County he was very good at this level. However, he seems to be suffering from a lack of confidence and match practice. If Tuanzebe signs, i wouldn't be surprised to see him head out on loan or permanently.

Tuanzebe, on paper, would be a hell of a signing. His two best seasons in terms of appearances are 25 and 9, which is worrying for a 25 year old. The thing that worries me about Tuanzebe, is that he's been at some outstanding clubs in terms of sports science and medical facilities. If they can't keep him on the pitch, that's a worry.
