Interesting to see a very angry Cardiff fan spoiling for a fight on the way back to the station and being reprimanded by a Welsh policeman with the words Heddlu on this high-vis vest.
They clearly knew each other well, and I suppose the presence of such police {presumably to suppress potential trouble) is a sign of club whose fans have a bit of a reputation. [Post edited 3 Sep 2023 8:23]

They always have had that side to them, unfortunately. The nationalist chants (from everyone) are worst now than at any time I can remember. The seem to have ramped up over the last 4-5 years. I don’t know why - maybe it reflects the divisions in the country stoked by the likes of Brexit; agro generally seems worse after Covid, so maybe that’s got something to do with it; maybe it’s a response to people struggling during harder times; could be the old white powder being used more widely making the idiots more idiotic. Or maybe it’s got nothing to do with any of that. Every time I go to a Swansea match these days, national anthems are flying around all over the place. Bristol City started off GSTK during the player warm up at the weekend. I don’t remember it being anywhere near as common pre-Covid/Brexit, etc. |  |

Leaving aside the provocative nature of your early comments to anyone who isn't English, the position with regard to Welsh clubs merely reflects a similar anomaly which enables England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to have separate national teams, something which no other country in the world has and I imagine all in the respective nations are happy to continue.

Can understand the historical reasons for Cardiff and others being in the English football pyramid, there wasn't a Welsh league until 1992, which they refused to join, could have qualified for Europe every season. They'd rather play in the English league than the Champions League or Europa League. Weird nation of Anglophobes. |
