Leeds could/should be 2 up already (n/t) on 22:01 - Nov 3 by gainsboroughblue | Thing is, we won't know that for sure until May. There were games last year we said we could do with so and so getting a result at such and such. Turned out in hindsight, it worked in our favour. i.e. Barnsley beating Sheff Wed. |
But Leeds could easily lose to a bottom 6 team at home and we beat a top 6 team away and it cancels out this result. It’s 1 game at a time. I can’t believe even the most optimistic Town fan thought we would be in this position right now. I’m loving it. This result tonight helps focus the mind now. I can’t see us losing tomorrow and even if we do 6 clear a game in hand.

Leeds could/should be 2 up already (n/t) on 22:01 - Nov 3 by FrimleyBlue | True. But he also got done again for their 3rd goal. Can't remember the winger at that point. It's not his strong point imo. |
He did. Think it might have been mumba. The encouraging this from tonight was that fatawu doesn't seem to like going on the outside, which means hopefully davis just has to stand there and let mass deal with him when he cuts in! (Over and over again). Maresca made mckenna look like a genius tonight. 433 with wingers that cut in over and over again looks pretty straightforward to defend against, even with weird tweaks like the right back in centre mid. Defend the box narrow and break quickly - two things we're pretty good at.

It's not that desperate. Win tomorrow and the gap's back to nine points. Win on Tuesday and it's up to twelve. Leeds' GD is still worse than ours, too.

Exactly. Win the next two and let everyone else worry about us. Just keep groovin' on.
Leeds could/should be 2 up already (n/t) on 09:31 - Nov 4 with 1053 views | PrideOfTheEast | Thought Leeds look a class above in the attacking third last night - they will batter some teams this year. Leicester looked more functional but with less flair. Interesting to see what happens to Leeds in January. That Summerville (sp) key to them and he’ll be in demand surely.

Win both of those and we are top! I am struggling to accept that people have decided: Leicester have won the title already Leeds will catch us up It is like no one has learnt from last season. No one caught Plymouth and Sheffield Wednesday finished third. The most important thing is that we win our games. So far, Leicester have shown little sign of slipping up but who is to say they won't just as Wednesday did last season? So far, Leeds have been inconsistent. Who's to say they won't continue to be? Yesterday, Leicester looked poor in attack and Leeds looked the better side. The table tells a very different story about Leicester's attack and Leeds have failed to win nearly as many as they have won.

Leeds could/should be 2 up already (n/t) on 10:09 - Nov 4 with 1015 views | Herbivore | Leicester are a good side but I've been saying for a while that people are perhaps overrating them. They're below us in the xG table (both xG for and xG difference) and have been largely relying on individual quality to win games rather than being massively dominant and creating loads. Against Sunderland they could easily have come unstuck, ref missed a stonewall penalty and Sunderland lacked any sort of composure in the final third otherwise they'd have got a goal or two. Leeds are a good side but are only two games removed from losing at Stoke, who haven't had a great start to the season. Despite their attacking prowess they aren't blowing teams away. Focus on ourselves, one game at a time, and see where it takes us.

Your example of last season doesn't really work though. We were in Leeds position and managed to catch up! Admittedly, we are further ahead than Wednesday were but it's also much earlier in the season so Leeds have plenty more time to catch us. I championed our chances last year when we were looking down and out for autos and was one of the few that wanted Barnsley to beat Wednesday but there is still far too much football to go this season to be worried either way. As mentioned by others in this thread and the ethos around the club is set by management/players, the best way to approach is to just look at each game as it comes. As fans we just need to enjoy each game too and not worry about the road ahead, it makes for a more enjoyable time.
