If you vote Conservative in the next general election you are blinkered, discuss on 09:24 - Nov 10 by J2BLUE | Surprised by that post. You usually make an effort to be balanced. My nan is none of those things. She's in her 80s, doesn't pay too much attention to politics and will inevitably vote Conservative because she always has and it's too late to get her to change now. I think there are many older people who might well have enjoyed good financial times but also worked bloody hard for it who want to feel secure in old age and unfortunately think of the Tories as the party who are more likely to handle the economy well. FWIW, I don't have an issue with blinkered. |
From what you say, your nan comes under the 'brainwashed' umbrella (sorry). Nor do I have to be "balanced" when it comes to people voting for fascism, corruption, a levelling down of care for the most vulnerable, the crumbling away of infrastructure & services for all of us, further environmental destruction, and the removal of our freedom to protest about any/all of those things unless we're prepared to go to prison for up to 10 years. If you vote Conservative in the next general election you are blinkered, discuss on 17:36 - Nov 10 by VanSaParody | On this weekend more than any... Remembrance weekend I think the original post was an utterly despicable thing to post. So many fought & died for yours & my freedom... to freely & democratically elect whichever bunch of incapable buffoons we so choose. To be told who we can or in this case, can't vote for, is unacceptable. I refuse to be told who I should or shouldn't vote for & so should you |
"I think the original post was an utterly despicable thing to post. So many fought & died for yours & my freedom... to freely & democratically elect whichever bunch of incapable buffoons we so choose." They also fought for the rest of us to be able to call tory voters a bunch of selfish knuts.

Downvoted for (deliberately?) misinterpreting or misrepresenting the op.

Except that Unstable made a proposition and then asked us to discuss that proposition, there was no instruction for us to vote (but there was an example of why we may be disinclined to vote for the current administration.) We have become used to people not reading through all of a thread on this forum, sometimes not even read through a post too closely, but I think this is the first instance of someone not getting to the end of a thread title before shooting from the hip.

It's a good job than that nobody's saying who you can or can't vote for, innit. This is a left leaning site, but people will engage with an argument if you've got one. So even if this thread has hit a nerve, feel free to present and defend an alternative view. That is what the OP was inviting after all.
