Leeds win again.. 14:52 - Dec 9 with 4191 views | ChampionsofInnsbruck | Today’s a must win again. It’s going to be tough to maintain our spot with the two Premier League payoff teams breathing down our necks. It’s incredible that we’re where we are.

Leeds win again.. on 14:57 - Dec 9 with 3209 views | blueprint | Why is it a must win? Win , lose or draw our season will not be defined by one game. The fact we are where we are 1 week into December is truly amazing.

Agreed. We're 4 points clear of third with a game in hand and over half a season to play. Objectively, this is one of the toughest fixtures we have left to play. The idea we have to win today is nuts and not remotely helpful. A point today is a very good result, imo.

normally I'd agree, but with Watford, Norwich, Leeds and Leicester coming up - where are the points going to come from?

It is for me, I don’t see Southampton or Leeds dropping any points coming up, same with Leicester, I think that if we don’t win today they’ll have the confidence to overtake us and I’m expecting Leeds and Leicester for the automatic positions. We’ve got a hard run of games coming up also.

Why are you including Norwich in that? We'll rightly be heavy favourites to win that game. Watford is probably 50/50, Leicester at home is very winnable and we're capable of giving Leeds a tough test. We shouldn't fear any game but it's also not helpful to heap unnecessary pressure on games like today.

We should be alright against Watford, Norwich will be tough as derby games are always a different kettle of fish to the regular league games, Leeds and Leicester will be very hard games and could be defining points of the season. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Probably the 27 matches we have left, including those 4. Do you expect us to lose all 4 of them? Why? It isn't going to happen, but if we lost all 4, drew today and Leeds continued their form from their last 4, we would be 6 points behind them with 21 matches (nearly half the season) left.

That's a weak excuse for being a fanny, mate. If a fanny flounces on TWTD and there's nobody there to see it, does it still sound like a fanny?

To be fair, as you can't see those three teams dropping any points, we may as well give up and be thankful we didn't get relegated (which you also expected to happen didn't you?)

Leeds win again.. on 15:33 - Dec 9 with 2839 views | WinchBlue | Town should be nowhere near 2nd place and it’s huge credit to Kieron and the whole set-up that they are. The financial clout of the teams relegated from the prem means that they should be huge favourites for promotion which is why they are 1,3 & 4. I am delighted that we are at the right end of the table. I won’t be upset or surprised if we drop down a few places over the next couple of months. If we can hold our position until the end of march I might start getting excited.

Although, I do get your point, how many seasons since the Premier League began have seen all three relegated sides go straight back up? In fact, I wonder how many have seen even 2 out of 3. EDIT: Just looked this up and got: All 3: never 2 out of 3: 6 times (93-4, 97-8, 06-07, 09-10, 15-16, 20-21) 1 of 3: 14 times (95-6, 96-7, 99-00, 01-02, 02-03, 03-04, 08-09, 11-12, 13-14, 14-15, 16-17, 19-20, 21-22, 22-23) None: 10 times (94-5, 98-9, 00-01, 04-05, 05-06, 07-08, 10-11, 12-13, 17-18, 18-19). In other words, 20% of the time 2 out of 3 have bounced straight back up. 80% of the time no more than 1 has bounced straight back up. Never have all 3 done so. [Post edited 9 Dec 2023 16:14]

It would be just our luck to have a storming season when none of the three relegated Prem clubs fook it up.

Nodge and Saints did it not too far apart from each other but nobody since then and it's certainly fairly uncommon. Not many sides come up from League 1 as strongly as we did though.

Plymouth did! Nodge and Southampton were consecutive seasons in 2010-11 and 11-12. Man City did it 99-00. EDIT: Which is 3 in the last 24 seasons or 1 in 8 on average. [Post edited 9 Dec 2023 16:26]
