Are we running out of striker options? 06:25 - Jan 17 with 7320 viewsbobbyramsey

It’s all very well saying move on but who to? A bit disappointing……

I assume we’ve missed out on our first two choices or will KM and Ashton still pull a surprise “rabbit” out of the hat?

Preferably a brace of rabbits……

Definite no to Clarke-Harris, we may as well keep Ladapo as he'd be more effective in this side than Clarke-Harris.

I know. I shouldn't have gone there. I cant help myself sometimes. Its more as the OP says we are running out of options and maybe need some short term things which dont break the bank and limited gambles.

I was even mulling over Jordan Rhodes lol

I know we're all desperate for news/options, but to be fair JCH is scraping the barrel!

We will get 2. I am confident of that. My hope is that it is people closer to the top of our list rather than x2 last minute loans of premier league youngsters. I suspect it will be half an half…..one experienced central striker and one youngster to run around a bit and pad out the bench.

Rightly so 😂 the main problem with JCH is he moves so little and would be our least fit player by a very wide margin.

There are several angles to look at when it comes to who we may or may not get. There's the fair play rules for starters. Then the person we bring in. In that is a makeshift for Hirst, someone who will eventually be in competition or maybe a replacement. Then there's the situation as to whether we get promotion or are indeed trying for it. That may sound mad given our current League position, but in the grand scheme of things are we truthfully set up for it. The last thing I want is for us to go up, struggle all season and be back in the Championship the season after next. Keeper wise if we keep both they are good enough, another fullback maybe and I'm not 100% on our central defence being good enough. Midfield how long will Morsy and Loungo last and is one or the other good enough. A question, not a criticism. Then we come to the forward line. Possibly the worse off of each part of the team as two definitely not good enough for the Prem in Ladapo and Jackson, a couple of loanees that would be on their way back to their clubs, then Broadhead, Hirst and Chaplin all of whom could make the step up.

I'm a strong believer in the jump being too big. Crafting a Prem-ready squad with our finances would require equal doses of luck and manager patience.

If we reach the promised land and it doesn't go brilliantly, we'll only have lost one season of our lives (with exotic scenery) and we then return to action in 25/26 with better players, much more money and much more exposure.

Many transfers don't happen until the last day of the window - there is time

This. It's been really quiet generally this window so far.

I actually hate the January transfer window. It seems to overtake everything and get in the way of the actual business on the field.

There's no real immediate pressure at the moment. Jackson can play against Leicester and Ladapo can start in the cup.

Every single January people want us to get business done quickly. It rarely happens.

I would argue we've had a very successful window so far with a quality Morsy back up/partner and a dangerous attacking player in Sarmiento.

I am sure we will sign a decent striker. The owners are not going to let this opportunity go but at the same time we're not going to offer silly money.

Truly impaired.

Was going to say the same, we aren't under huge pressure to get things done as I imagine he'll start the same team against Leicester regardless of who comes in.

I know we like to have people up to speed with patterns o play etc, but I'd rather we wait for someone we really want, as opposed to another Ahadme last minute jobbie.

When compared to other positions, strikers have been a real issue for the club since Gamechanger took over. We've had Pigott, Bonne (loan), Ladapo, Ahadme, John-Jules (loan), Hirst, and Scarlett (loan) - Ladapo and Hirst have been the only successes we've had, and Ladapo is probably on his way out now. I think we expect something specific from our striker and it takes on point scouting to find someone within our budget to bring one in.

I do fear we'll end up bringing Scarlett back on 31st January.
