Not paying a million plus for an injured veteran player who’s out of contract soon is not penny pinching, it’s sanity, something missing from football these days!

The various reports on us sticking to our offer. No issues with it specifically Just saying I can't see us then spending large amounts on a prem loan agreement. As it would be a heck of a spend for that sort of loan.

Depends how it all ends up really I guess If we get a striker It don't matter If we don't and we've lost out for a few extra £s maybe It is.. I guess we'll find out.

No-one knows what our offer is, it might already be over the odds. And when you say you can't see us spending on a prem loan agreement - we do already have 3 of those. "Penny pinching" is a negative term, so I'm not surprised to see you using it.

Then why refer to it as penny pinching and make yourself look like a dick.

Didn't think it was a bad phrase to use in the context of the discussion with the OP. If we are standing firm with our offer and refusing to budge then no I can't see us offering big amounts for a prem loan transfer.

How few extra pounds are we talking? Why will we find out? It may be that we are prepared to pay up to £1.5M for the player and Blackburn won't accept anything below £3M. It might also be that we won't go above £900K and they would accept £901K but we don't and never will know.

Clearly I meant a prem loan deal of that calibre. Not a youngster on his first loan or a fullback In his season from a year out. But you knew that. Our offer was reported to be 1 mill. Of course just reported so views shared are or course based on reports. And I don't see penny pinching being overly negative tbh.

I know of a few who class themselves as penny pinchers and love the fact they're known for it. So apologies for not seeing the negative side of it. Oh well. Meant well by it. Clarified it. But guess no matter what I write it's gonna be taken a certain way. [Post edited 21 Jan 2024 15:34]

The general usage is highly critical as you can see from the context as an adjective which is what you used it in too (you aren't using it to describe someone saving up for an investment). Fair enough that you didn't mean it that way but it is no surprise it was taken to mean miserly.

More realistic than negative. The idea we’re going to loan a prem player who’s on at least $75k a week is absurd.
