I'm curious which 5 Town players should have been sent off last night? (n/t) on 13:40 - Jan 23 by Swansea_Blue
I assume the ref gave it for being reckless, as he did go in hard irrespective of winning the ball and being in control. That's all I can think of. And that's obviously a very subjective assessment - it was a borderline call at best imo and you see many more examples of strong tackles go unpunished. The challenge on Hutch the other week when he was kicked up in the air in the box and the defender missed the ball was far worse.
So he got booked for making a tackle. And a clear, fair one at that. What was he supposed to do? Put his permission in writing to the Leicester player? Send him a text? Maybe put a mattress out for the player to fall on? How about slowing to a standstill and asking nicely?
The player rolled about like a World of Sport wrestler and the Leicester entitled ones surrounded the ref - who was conned.
It was not borderline in my opinion. Where I agree is in regard to consistency. They just aren’t, as demonstrated by your Hutchinson example.

and there was the question of two potential penalties our way (albeit they would have been a bit soft but seen them given!) hand ball and Fridge man handled in the box... just saying!

If they're referring to Clarke's tackle then they need to give their heads a wobble. How that was a yellow or even a foul I'll never know. Looked to me entirely in control, led with 1 foot, cleanly took the ball and none of the man (although I haven't seen a replay of it).
Games gone.
Why did their player grab his shin in agony in mid air no less when Clarkey had not even touched him?

I was trying to think of what the ref saw, and I can't think of anything else it would be. It can't have been the ref thinking he was using enough excessive force to endanger the safety of the player, as that would have been a red. Agreed, it was a good hard but clean tackle imo too, but obviously the ref saw something wrong with it.
Maybe it was a accumulation thing, as Clarke did jump into tackles a few times and always does. It's supposed to be a physical game though, so who knows.
Refs are very inconsistent, even the same one in the same match often.

Strange to think that in this day and age a player gets booked for an accumulation of very good tackles! Several games recently, last night, Sunderland and Norwich games spring to mind, we seem to get booked virtually any time we foul or even come close to fouling, yet the opposition seem to get away with all sorts of skullduggery. I know I am a little biased, but is it because subconsciously the refs can’t quite believe we are able to compete at this level without being up to no good?

I said this during the game last night... we don't seem to get those fouls that other teams seem to just take for granted, you know when the just stop and look or clutch a shin.... I guess we are just not very good at it.... I mean honestly that foul on Chaplin at Leeds every team in the country gets them every game!

Get used to the diving and blubbing. It’s a premier league pre-requisite. Ref’s don’t like us: We got our one penalty after complaining to the league that we weren’t getting them. Maybe it’s time to play that card again.

In all seriousness, if you look at it with the most Leicester-biased ridiculous take you can:
Clarke goes for sliding in to block the cross when Faes slips (actually from the TV angle at the time, I thought it was a pen until I saw the replay!); Clarke goes again for winning the ball; Luongo goes for having Faes run into him and pretend to be concussed; Whoever put in a challenge goes for Dewsbury-Hall's dive outside the area under the referee's nose.
I am guessing those would be his four. None of them should have been a foul let alone a yellow card. Dewsbury-Hall should have been booked for the dive and at least 2 Leicester players for telling the ref to send off Clarke and Luongo.

That Talk Sport Rant was a wind up , sounds like a London /Essex accent, and also could probably be a regular caller as both presenters seem to recognise him ……..remember Mr Angry on the radio 1 Steve Wright show ……funny as hell for the listeners.
This is more the sort of thing I'm interested in from the radio, like.
