This may be a lesson to those who repeatedly made 'cough up or shut up' messages too, who reignited the conversation on here throughout from a position of ignorance. Some no doubt wanted to provoke the sharing of more information; some no doubt just wanted to 'win' on a public space. Whatever the motive of individuals, it invariably takes two to tango and the creation of more and more posts was hardly helpful to reducing Ipswich-based speculation and forum interest.
I write "may" because I don't connect potentially libellous dots without knowledge of a situation. There exists a thread on the Pinkun messageboard from November that was/is potentially far more libellous than anything I ever read on Ipswich spaces, and it's impossible to know who helped set the Sun's story in motion on an unknown player who may be wholly unrelated to the non-speculation that's existed on TWTD. The Sun has released multiple stories of different footballers allegedly inhaling nitrous oxide in the past twelve months, including one on the subject of this thread in March 2023. Those stories relied on visual evidence and witness accounts, rather than social media gossip of the manner 'there's more to this than meets the eye'. I imagine the evidence behind their new headline is of a similar nature to the former, whomever it concerns. | | | |

A respected authority shutting all conversation down and everyone maturely avoiding the topic until something definitively happened, in respect to contract or availability, would have been ideal. The absence of a timeframe made this an even taller order regrettably, and then immaturity on both sides followed.
It's mature and helpful to call out gossip and ask for it to stop. It isn't helpful to accuse people of lying without knowledge, or to continually assert an alternative truth without knowledge. That only served to provoke further inappropriate debate and had the potential to elicit libellous hearsay or sensitive information. To my knowledge you behaved maturely throughout. 🤗 | | | |

No one did that. No one said anyone was a liar. No one said it to "provoke debate" or "elicit ...information". They were and are rightly irritated by people claiming special knowledge, with no obvious foundation, which even if accurate- (and there is still no reason to think it is...) is plainly not going to help anything or anyone other than circulating unecessary rumours.

I have no insight into the claims you claim redrick. To my knowledge, everyone respected the request from Phil that libellous or sensitive information is kept off site. Perhaps certain posts and threads were deleted before I came upon them? I've certainly read multiple threads in which posters were accused of lying, and of not knowing anything, and I've read multiple threads in which alternative 'truths' were claimed as victorious without the knowledge to do so. Perhaps these were deleted before you came upon them? I won't trawl back.
Your 'again' is misdirected, as I have not and will not join dots when I don't possess the knowledge to do so. If I did, I'd keep it to myself. [Post edited 5 Feb 2024 18:50]
