What the hell is it about Portman Road?
I've been going for 45 years and can honestly say that currently the 'support' does not warrant what is going on on it.
Is it that Blue Action have moved?
Is it that all the songs have become chintzy proto pop rip offs?
Is it the disconnect between upper and lower tiers- especially in the North?
Is it that we are so in awe of the wonders on the pitch that we get tongue tied or complacent?
I've got all Victor Meldrew about this before but today was crap and people really need to sort it out?
I know it's not just me because all away fans remark on it.
Maybe football is, after all, the new religion. Nobody sings in church either.

Well over 50% of our crowd (probably closer to 70%) don't sing at all, therefore they definitely "out sang the majority of our crowd".
This doesn't even account for the fact that you can barely hear the NS from where the away fans are anyway. |  |

We're talking about atmosphere. The very nature of atmosphere is actually being there. It would be like me having an opinion on India having never been there. |
Although I get what you are trying to say that’s an awful example to give. Seeing India during their summer on TV you would be able to see it’s hot for example. You wouldn’t need to have visited India for that thought to be valid or indeed correct. |  | | |

The Wednesday fans were singing "is this a library" literally minutes after the SBR Stand had been singing loudly. This happened several times yesterday and tbh we say this about nearly every away ground and not sure its ever really true there either.
Fans sitting at other end of the ground saying that its quiet is a common theme at several stadiums it seems, but not sure its really such an issue. |
From where I sit in SBR, I can rarely hear away fans, only our fans. It's all to do with acoustics and positioning around the ground. |  | | |

The point is, you wouldn't get a full view on their people, food, culture etc etc.

Agree re: positioning. Not sure on the accoustics, dont think that impacts noise coming from North to away fans or vice versa really. | | | |
