Unfortunately masts only have so much capacity, once they are overwhelmed, there's nothing any equipment can do about it.

The masts in the area are likely to have never seen so much demand for data (because a lot of the area is parkland) at once and probably never will again, which is why the signal fell over the moment it got there.

Sky Sports News are not broadcasting the whole event live, only the stream is live all the time so that bit wouldn't have gone out on TV.
