I’ve had an email about X block being made bigger even though it doesn’t affect me!!
Dear Supporter,
Everyone at Ipswich Town Football Club would like to thank you for your fantastic support last season and trust you are looking forward to the new season in the Premier League.
You may have seen in the media that, due to Premier League requirements, the Club must undertake some significant changes to Portman Road over the summer months. Some of these changes directly impact the stadium seating plan, and as such the club is making contact with those affected supporters over the next few weeks to highlight these changes.
Unfortunately, a number of premium area seats will be affected by these changes, and to those supporters the Club are able to offer alternative premium seating. To achieve this, we are looking to add additional seating into Block X with the creation of a further 136 seats. For this to be completed with the least possible disruption, we will be adding additional rows to the area as well as adding a small number of seats into existing rows. Whilst this will reduce legroom in Block X, making it more in line with other areas of the stadium, all seating in this area will be padded to retain the premium feel.
The map of Block X below shows the new look to the area.
Seat 1 is the first seat to the right-hand side running to seat 56 on the left-hand side. The middle stairwell is flanked by seat 28 on the right as we look and 29 on the left.
If you login to your online profile at https://tickets.itfc.co.uk/, you will be able to verify your seat location in relevance to the changes.
If you have any issues with your new seat location, please contact the Ticket Office team on 03330 05 05 03 from 10am on Thursday, 23 May or drop in to Planet Blue from the same time. If, however, you are happy with the seat location you do not need to take any further action and your season card will be sent in readiness for the new season.

I think it’s a generic email gone out to everyone subscribed. I sit in the SBRL stand so see no reason I’d be moved. Person next to me not received email. I think it’s just warning people that sit in Block X, the changes with extra seats etc. Don’t think it’s telling people they are moving. |  | | |

I saw the plan and thought they were putting the seats behind Block X and not adding two rows to the existing Block X. I am a Block X season ticket holder and pay a premium for the legroom and view. As long as the legroom is still ‘decent’ and not Cobbold-esque then fine. Just hope my view is still as good! | | | |

I didn’t receive an email yesterday but have received one today. It’s come a bit out of the blue. It doesn’t tell me a lot other than I’m going to lose what I assume is a large chunk of the leg room which the seats have had up until now. As an older and large person (probably as a result of too many match day pies over the years) I got the premium seat in block X 6 years ago because of the extra leg room. A padded seat, free programme and hot drink, whilst nice, I wouldn’t think is a main motivation for most people having these seats but extra room definitely is. Whether the extra cost of the seat is now worth it I don’t know. I’ve been lucky enough that I have been able to pay a bit extra before for the extra room but now I’m retired and with the main benefit taken away I don’t know what I’ll do - probably nothing given that there is likely no choice available for people having seats in block X already. | | | |
