Looking back over last month or so they were hints he could leave (Davis on SKY after final game saying he hopes the manager stays, some of Ashton's and his own comments) and now it is blindingly obvious he will.
On the one hand I am eternally grateful for two marvellous seasons and getting us back to where we belong but on the other very disappointed he won't even give us one season in the premier league.
Wherever he ends up he is going to learn a lot next season and it will be interesting to see how he handles losing streaks if at Brighton, something he has not had to worry about here. Also will be interesting to see how he handles the board, as I understand it he had a say in most things here that won't be the case at a Brighton or Chelsea.
Whilst the short term gain for McKenna will be huge he surely has to consider the longevity of managing either Chelsea or Brighton or is he a career chaser moving on when his stock is at its highest? My guess would be he'd last no longer than 18 months at either club. Where does he go from there?
Personally if he stays and takes us down finishing bottom I don't think many fans or the board would want him gone.
The big worry is where do we go from here? Let's be honest the euphoria of going up has had as good a feel factor as I can recall in my 50 year lifetime. We are now caught between someone trying to be McKenna mkII with same team or ripping team up and starting again. Either way I have big doubts that will get us 40 points next season.
I hope Potter would come to us when McKenna leaves and be able to do what he did at Brighton but fear he may have better offers. Cooper I like but he does have huge losing streaks in him and Edwards of Luton has done well this year but can't see what he'd be able to differently to keep us up if I am honest. That said hopefully I hope Ashton can unearth another gem.
I am now totally fed up with all the speculation and more importantly the fact we are losing valuable time to plan for next season when we don't know who is going to be in charge. Thanks for the memories McKenna either sign the new contract or go quickly please.

You won, Keiran. Enjoy the money, I hope it makes you happy. Dear lord, what a sad little life, Keiran. You ruined my club completely so you could have the money and I hope now you can spend it on lessons in grace and decorum. Because you have all the grace of a reversing dump truck without any tyres on. So Keiran, take your money and get off my property.
KMc won’t stay with us forever at some stage he will move on. With his recent achievements he was always going to attract interest. He has to be respectful to bigger clubs, he can’t say he isn’t interested especially if it is a club he would be interested in at some point in the future.
As for a new new contract it isn’t necessarily about money, there may be clauses that KMc may find restrictive, too high a release fee for example.
Chill out there is nothing any of us can do, we are just supporters and the majority of us will still be here come what may.
There’s no loyalty in football and KM is an ambitious young manager, so is it any wonder that there are clubs sniffing around him? For us as Town fans we feel Ipswich is the pinnacle, the Mecca of football, but sadly it isn’t. I think the move to Brighton would be a move he’d be tempted by, they are an established EPL club, well run with a supportive board, I can certainly see the attraction of them. Whether we like it or not, Brighton are much further along the production line than where we are. I do feel that the Chelsea and United jobs are too big a risk to take for those clubs to take a gamble on an a rookie EPL manager. I like your suggestions, personally I’d try and tempt Edwards away from Luton. He did a really good job with a limited budget and made the Hatters competitive. Feel sure he’d be backed by our board and he has the experience of knowing what would be needed to survive. One thing is for sure, we won’t be short of managers wanting to join us if KM chooses to leave.

'lessons in grace and decorum" - coming from you after this disgusting post (even worse than the OPs) based on nothing but tabloid rumour?
This place has lost its mind.

Google the quote maybe, mate.
Wow, well I can only apologise, you had me totally fooled. To be fair, if someone didn't know the quote how on earth would they know it's a quote?!
But yep, you've nailed how some on here are reacting. So far Kieran's done nothing wrong and people are actually wanting him to go - based purely on tabloid headlines! Astonishing!

Place does seem to have descended into flounce city.
Even if he goes he'll have done nothing wrong in my book. I couldn't begrudge him it, and as I said to a mate yesterday, I'd 100% have done a deal with the devil 3 years ago for back to back promotions the way we did it with the manager departing afterwards.

I'd certainly be disappointed if he leaves now - it'd be a massive let down if the best football we've seen in 20 years only lasted 2, but people are losing the plot on here before it's even happened. Shame on them, really. It's like they've never experienced the tabloid press before.

Disappointed overall yes, but would you be disappointed 'in him' for leaving?

I'm not sure yet! I think I would, initially, because I feel like he's hardly been here 5 minutes, he has a great set up and backing, and so many years of management ahead of him. It would smack a bit of jumping at the first opportunity. But then it's hard for me to say when I'm so massively biased. I don't really feel like Brighton have much more to offer than we do, ultimately, but I can see the draw of a Chelsea or a Man U.

I would love him to stay and test his capabilities to the full with us, but who’s to say he will make a good PL manager? For all the success we’ve had, I remember a few times eyebrows were raised over some of his tactics and selections/substitutions. A new man may prove an even better fit and takes us on just as well. What happens will happen, I’d like him to stay but good luck and eternal appreciation to him if he doesn’t and our adventure continues....

The game has changed. Fergie would have lost his job within a couple of years in the current climate, Clough would have been binned off a lot sooner too. It cuts both ways, clubs no longer tolerate below par results for a couple of years whilst a new manager builds something, they expect quick results. Why should managers show loyalty to clubs when they have better offers when the club wouldn't show any loyalty to them if they were struggling? Christ, we had several numpties calling for McKenna to leave in Jan and Feb 2023 and now we're preaching loyalty? People need to get real.

This is such nonsense. Managers in the 70sand early 80s earned on a par with a doctor or senior barrister, they had mortgages. McKenna will get a 4m a year for 3 years contract when he leaves. Apples and oranges.
In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!
