Rooney to Plymouth.....bullet dodged. (n/t) on 16:04 - May 25 by TractorWood | There is Plymouth's relegation secured. |
I feel for their supporters. They seem mostly pretty decent. A stellar season playing good stuff winning third division. Lost their manager who then failed to light up Stoke. Survived in the Championship. Now they'll start 25/26 back in third division but without the manager, players, momentum and spirit (and hope) they had in summer '22.

Rooney to Plymouth.....bullet dodged. (n/t) on 11:17 - May 25 by pafcprogs | Bring announce on Monday we believe As ever pros and cons You know the cons However he may bring ten figure investment with him. There’s an argument we are already the lowest budget and relegation favourites so a manager who attracts that level of investment is to coin a phrase. A game changer he did ok at Derby in awful climate Made No impact at Washington but they were bottom when he joined Birmingham. Inherited a squad built to play one way and was told to play another. Then sacked before he could get his players in However is also thought to want Ryan alsopp to replace Cooper ( Celtic bound) so is clearly a nutter! Time will tell. But it is happening so we are all wazzamen now Managers hey! bloody hell |
I wish you and him well. It could work out ok for you. He did a job at Derby and they are a basket case of a club. If you give him a little money to spend (he has never brought a player) then I think he can take you to mid table.

Rooney to Plymouth.....bullet dodged. (n/t) on 20:42 - May 25 by Nthsuffolkblue | I really don't get how an owner/CEO/whoever can go from Rosenior (a very sensible choice) to Rooney! Clearly there was some reason why Rosenior turned it down, though. |
Must have been going through his list in reverse order of the alphabet.

Ten figure investment? Are you sure??? That's a billion pounds plus!!! No disrespect to Plymouth, but the kind of people who have £1 Billion to invest in something aren't the kind of people who would choose Plymouth! That sort of money would get you Aston Villa or Ajax, with funds to invest.

Must be 8 figure investment tops, surely. I've never really liked Rooney, but I admit I loved watching him in his pre-Man U days when he had Goodison park in the palm of his hand. Something inside me wants him to succeed at Argyle but it really is like watching an accident waiting to happen. Great player as he was I feel he's not quite bright enough to realise that he's not very bright, and you need a bright enough manager to make the sort of changes mid game that can turn matches. Top managers these days are not full of all the clichés (just a few) so the days of Ron Manager seem a thing of the past - but I'd love Wayne to prove me wrong with Argyle.

I'll give Rooney one thing.... and that he must have massive self-belief. If it was me... I'd look at the Birmingham debacle and feel responsible for that club getting relegated... and keep my head down. He just got back on the horse. Maybe deluded, but he's not short of self-confidence.

Actually yes. Eight figure Must have been a Norwich source and I was confused by the two spare digits when he held his hands up to explain ;)
