Statue for Mick Mills ? 10:05 - May 31 with 4222 viewskpblues

Slightly odd timing with all that's going on but I keep thinking it would be nice to do a statue of a legend while they are still alive so who better than Mick Mills?

He's number one in appearances.

Captain for the FACup and EUFA Cup (two of our three shirt stars).

Was also 1st Div runner-up 80–81, 81–82 and 2nd Div champion 1967–68.

Also the first Ipswich England captain and MBE to boot.

Still analyses the Ipswich games and does a lot of foundation work.

Wouldn't it be nice?

I'd like a proper Hall of Fame, where the true greats of the club can be properly honoured - maybe with busts in an area of the ground.

At the time of the Beat statue I always felt that Warky and Mills were probably more worthy of one and that hasn't changed from my view as a younger fan.

Whilst the Hall of Fame we have with the annual induction is good, we almost need a proper Mount Rushmore of Ipswich players where the 5-10 absolute main men are honoured - maybe an all time XI

I do think Town should find a way to immortalise him, but statues are on the cusp of becoming dilute in meaning. I think it might be cool for town to get local artists into the club and designate mural spots in certain sections of the concourses.

Still stand by a legends water feature in the fanzone

Circular wall. Club badge in middle water cascading down it. All around the circle. Legend plaques with names on it.

Not just players. Could also be Pat godbold. Part of ipswich town heritage for example.

a niche perspective

Like that. Have it leading to the club museum. A museum the tells the 146 year history of Ipswich Town.

Edit: Perhaps one of these bad boys out the front. An ITFC version of Trajan’s Column

That Mills posture alone is statue worthy though to be fair.

Why, thank you

I think that's one too many really. Two great managers and one great player will do until KMc wins us the European Cup.

Something more like a bass-relief frieze in gold, with Micky Mills prominent (and very upright) on the walls of the massive new East Stand, Portman Road, with the rising sun highlighting the extraordinary posture of the man alongside the likes of Warky and Mariner, would be suitably god-like and daunting to those who dare to come here and challenge our might.

(I think I got a little carried away there, sry)

Ooooooooh… Lovely

I don't remember Mills as a player, but when the Beattie statue was commissioned I thought why just him, why not Wark and Mills too? Wark is second in our appearances and goals records, and usually is rated 2nd in our greatest ever player polls!

If there was a famous photo of the 3 of them together that would have been ideal - like Man Utd have Best, Law and Charlton together, but I think it's too late now

Add Wark and Mills to the Beat statue!

Thing is, there are so many who deserve a statue, but they can't all have one or else we wouldn't be able to get to the ground.

Something a bit like this of the 81 side? Though not so extravagant, obviously

Could be incorporated into a new stand?
