And now we actually in the PL 09:47 - Jun 23 with 7864 viewsmuccletonjoe

We see the problems every promoted team has in attracting the higher calibre of players.
It is not going to be an easy summer for Ashton or McKenna. I can see our sights slowly lowering to players who will want to come rather than players we need.

Come on. I just used that to emphasise a point.
WHATEVER players we are after , the higher they are regarded, the more problems we will face.

Yes, that is obviously true. And bigger Prem clubs will have more resources and prestige to throw at the issue.

However, I don't really think we have any hard evidence yet that ITFC are being especially or notably thwarted in their quest for signings. Let alone that we've had to drop our sights this early in the window. Which is what the OP seemed to be suggesting.

Exactly what happened last season you mean?only one division higher up with the added handicap of being amongst the relegation favourites and a manager who is likely to jump ship?

Should work in Town’s favour again if the likes of the Greek striker and Croatian goalie go somewhere sunny instead…. But McKenna’ grubby antics and subsequent lottery win will make Town an obvious target for dodgy agents and money-grabbing players worldwide.

A bit early to panic as the shops aren’t really open yet let alone sifting through the barrel scrapings… but one hopes a couple of good championship players might fancy a year of purgatory in the Prem followed by pocketing the parachute payments…as a worst case scenario - that seems about the best to be hoped for.

Time was when managers and supporters looked forward to promotion - and thought their players could step up a level. Those days are long gone in the strange world of TWTDland

I think quite the opposite. There are going to be far more players want to play in the Premier League than we can sign and the problem will not be filling the squad, it will be filtering the best players.

"a manager who is likely to jump ship" were your actual words! Even in this reply you state you would have a fiver on him being gone by Christmas and you now add that you believe he has touted himself for every available job.

You seem to be unaware of the meaning of your own words!

Clearly we have different interpretations of the manager’s grubby behaviour in touting himself for every available job whilst under contract.

He’s under contract and other jobs will become available before Xmas. I’m not a conservative MP
Nor do I throw money at bookies - but IF I were or did I suspect leopards don’t change their spots.

Let me put it another way - do you think he’ll still be here by Easter? Nor do jobbing mercenaries. - if they care about such things

Not seen anything libellous to be honest.
A troll? Maybe.
Bobbins poster? Not much doubt there.

I mean just what could anyone get out of posting such blatant spite & misrepresentation as elephant does though? Baffling. Can only think his life must be sadly lacking in other directions.

Ipswich Town target
preferred money to the
project' - Player criticised

Earlier this week, reports from the Greek media
reported that lpswich Town placed a €25m bid for
Panathinaikos forward Fotis loannidis

As Guthrum said, it's the club that has allegedly turned down our alleged bid, not the player.

While the headline from Sposito doesn't read well, I doubt that's true as it's unlikely Sporting have even spoken to the player or his agent as Panathinaikos hadn't accepted the bid, so no talks with the player should technically have taken place anyway.

Additionally, Sporting probably felt embarrassed that their low-ball bid was rejected, so their only out, apart from simply zipping it (which is what they should have done), was to blame the player for being greedy, rather than walk away with their tail between their legs and lose face.

MA, KM and the recruitment team will have done their homework, so IF we are making bids, I think we can safely assume the guy fits our personality profile as well as playing ability.
