I read Wolves have re-negotiated the sell on with them from 20% to 10% to allow the deal to go through. Which is really shoddy behaviour.

Yeah. £4m to Maidenhead, not £8m

Urgh.... Football will eat itself.... Despicable thing for a Premier club to do to a minnow. Completely unsurprising, though.

Maybe wolves have promised a friendly as part of the negotiations to get the fee owed reduced

£4m is still a lot of money for Maidenhead, whines a Wolves fan site defensively, overlooking £8m would be even more.

The Tories may not be in power anymore but, in many places, they're still in control.

It's a horrible look. But i guess from a Woves perspective they'd be saying that they would only be looking to sell at a certain profit point for themselves and they wouldn't sell if that isn't met, and have offered Maidenhead the option of no sale or 4mill rather than just knocking them down.

What is wrong with people on this forum trying to bash the Tories in totally irrelevant ways?
This is just a football issue, not political at all.

O/T as it was an aside by Tory beliefs are deep in society's core - the rich get richer and use it against the poorer. That's what's what's happened here. As said above, Wolves no doubt threatened no sale unless they could keep more of the cash themselves, basically blackmailing Maidenhead into the agreement, as £4m will still do a lot for them. More than nothing.

It's nonsense though isn't it? If the player wanted to go Wolves would have to sell or end up with an unhappy player on the books potentially losing value. It's basically just welching on their initial deal with Maidenhead, which is disgusting behaviour.

I guess Maidenhead couldn't take the risk that Wolves wouldn't follow through with their threat, so took the £4m and moved on.

It's still massively wrong in all honesty and a huge abuse of power.

I'm assuming they paid absolutely sod all for him in the first place - bit like when we signed Mings. So it's effectively £32m or £36m profit. Phenomenal business for Wolves and not the difference between selling or not selling is it?

They've done it solely because they can and because they are greedy. Awful form to renege on an agreement.

Standard behaviour on this board. See also, Brexit.

Awful behaviour from Wolves, shame Maidenhead accepted the deal.

I find this really odd

1. Why have Maidenhead agreed to it?
2. Are wolves that hard up they need £4m?
3. West ham could pay an extra £5m to get wolves their extra £4m

These clubs get sooooo much money, then rip off the small clubs.

That’s great news for Maidenhead, my daughter played at their ground a few weeks back in an all girls tournament.

Money will go a hell of a long way to secure their futurex

As an aside, a 7 year contract for a 27 year old is insane.

FFP at this point is solving nothing in terms of financial stability- it’s just creating a whole load of new issues further down the line. If for instance West Ham were relegated and didn’t bounce back quickly, there is no way they’d be able to shift him on that contract without a substantial payoff.

Utter madness.

Welcome to the Premier League.

It's not right but it's very much in character for the league. I'm sure before long we will see some morally questionable decisions here which make business sense.

Truly impaired.

I’ve no doubt missed it but I can’t say I’ve seen this before - a Premier League club holding a non league club over a barrel to change a signed agreement. It’s particularly scummy. I’d be disgusted if we did that.

I don't mean this exact situation but the Premier League uses its power for self interest as much as possible.

Truly impaired.
